8-10 inches but snow drifts have been amazing 1-2ft some places have no snow because it’s piled up into drifts, some of the wind gusts must have been approaching 60mph in showers earlier... walked into Glossop as had a few appointments around midday, really was bitter with powder hitting you in the face from heavy falling snow and blowing snow from roads and roofs.... max -5c currently -7c... even have drifts in garage where small gap under the door...absolutely stonking day... still hoping for more over next few days... glad so many have had some snow at least...

-3.0°C now and still plummeting. This is insane! Sun hasn’t even set yet.

I'm feeling quite emotional as even though we only have a few cm (Yes, I know some have had nothing. haha) I have seen sights today that I have not seen since I was a child over 20 years ago. Seeing the mist of heavy powder snow falling, hearing the wind howl and snow blowing along the floor like sand, seeing icicles form...  There was a point 30 mins ago when we were on the edge of a heavy shower so the sun was being blotted out by the heavy snow, giving the sky a brilliant but eerie glow. Slightly gutted there weren't more showers but the sights I have seen have been beautiful and will never forget them.

Let's hope there is more chance of these sights for us all. <3

Lovely post.

After a break of around an hour we should start to see some snowfall hit the NW again, looking at the radar there are some nice formations coming in off the east coast.

The older bro given up on getting the bus from Stockport as nothing is moving too fast along the A6 up to Hazel Grove, as also being reported by the MEN. It reminds me of the time when I was working apprenticeship at Manchester Airport and one winter's evening took 7hr to get through Stockport, Hazel Grove, Disley and back home when it would normally take around a hour.

Showers piling back in now. Worth noting that even though it’s -3.5C, the snow isn’t sticking because it’s been blown away! Heavy showers have given a new dusting. -8 tonight?

Minus 6 here and the sun hasn’t set yet. Wind blowing settled snow into beautiful drifts which will start to block the gates soon. Looking a radar the showers a building nicely and heading this way.

I was just about to ask if they'd make it over here? Let's hope so.

Interesting that the met office forecast goes for heavy snow showers overnight with only ‘occasional’ clear spells

No wonder the windchill is so raw - showers moving at a fast rate of knots.

Funny enough I went to shop early today when I walk on the snow it is still soft and powdery instead of crusty. i would expect them to be crusty by now.

I wanted to be a geek and measure how deep the snow is imby but I had nothing to measure it with apart from an old pair of my hairdressing scissors which are 5 & a half inches length.
