Always a key sign your having bitter weather when you see lots of icicles around.   Back from another interesting day at work, frequent snow showers blown on a very strong biting wind.  About 3-4 inches around OL8 areas (not a high part of Oldham by any stretch...)...more in the drifted areas.

Thurs/Fri

HIRLAM still wants this snow further NW, GFS also has it edged NW slightly.

Could we get an unexpected last minute upgrade???

The North Sea Snow Machine off the coast between Hull and Scarborough has definitely woken up again.

Perhaps 2cm max here in south lakes as expected. Dry powder snow. Occasional flurries today but nothing significant. Might get a further dusting over the weekend but nothing significant. It appears the rest of the region has fared much better than Cumbria once again but hey ho. Standard.

Where are you located - I've asked this before. We've had 4 inches not 2cms...

Light snow for a minute then. Every flake is sticking but there’s not enough of them at the moment.

HAD A Few flurries that tries to settle then blows away. Wind chill is brutal, and it’s already down to -2.8c. Might be colder tonight than last night. Any more snow possible tonight?

But it looks a bit more organised out east now.

Yes - some tasty looking echoes on Radar - interesting to see if they have the legs tonight.

I'm feeling quite emotional as even though we only have a few cm (Yes, I know some have had nothing. haha) I have seen sights today that I have not seen since I was a child over 20 years ago. Seeing the mist of heavy powder snow falling, hearing the wind howl and snow blowing along the floor like sand, seeing icicles form...  There was a point 30 mins ago when we were on the edge of a heavy shower so the sun was being blotted out by the heavy snow, giving the sky a brilliant but eerie glow. Slightly gutted there weren't more showers but the sights I have seen have been beautiful and will never forget them.

Let's hope there is more chance of these sights for us all. <3

Amen!

We had a really good 90 minutes of snow in Stoke today, got home to Crewe and was met by an hours white out blizzard.

Not hopefuly of any more tonight in the Cheshire gap.
