Quite a crap event here snow wise. Smallest sugar dusting. It's cold but I wouldn't say exceptionally so.

You'd think with such low uppers and thicknesses we'd see more organised shower activity than this but it is what it is.

Another thing I don't understand is why the wind veering ese is set to nullify the showers for the midlands etc later this eve. If showers can form in the short distance between the Irish Sea coasts of the UK and Ireland then there should be no issue with an ese wind (not se) for areas S of the Lincolnshire coast line.

Strange weather phenomena here in the UK I tell ya.

Thick coating outside -  snow shower after snow shower expected here today, probably banding together, and an ice day most probable. More snow later Friday as well. Winter wonderland!

Wow has anyone seen the GFS today? It keeps us under <-8 850s  and sub 528 dam air in an easterly flow for all of the next week! No quick breakdown there. I’d gladly sacrifice a big snow to rain event for that. I expect we’ll get the northern edge of Fronts at times anyway.

ESE flow another day of radar watching. All well and good but could do with a good stall. Hopefully Friday.

Aye it's wellying it down here too, not massive accumulation as yet but at least it's having a go!

Morning everyone. Despite a dry start snow is expected to push through the Manchester area towards lunchtime and mid afternoon.

This is also supported by the MetO app.

Covering maybe got another cm overnight, even the very light flakes are settling now it's so cold... Bitter winds... I see more showers forming over to the east.  Pennines will try to kill them off but the strongs winds should see a few of them over to lay more wintry whiteness around.

Just under 0.5cm snow, covered all surfaces, not quite covered the grass.

I’m really not convinced of any snow west of the M6 today, even though the Metoffice have upgraded my town to 60% risk at lunch time. The energy is just being sapped.

-6.4°C now, not far from the minimum. Should be a little bit colder tonight.
