Peak District is looking more/less the same as the lakes with -27'c windchill on the summits, 'whiteout' conditions and a possibility of lightning. I picked a fine day to head into Buxton tomorrow, might even take the 3hr walk over the tops back home if the snow accumulation isn't too bad.

Not great conditions for you rcausal walker

Blimey the showers appear to be gaining strength on their trip over the Pennines, are they running on adrenalin or something.

Yup precip has merged. Good chance of it making it over the hills. They’re gaining strength too.

Have you seen Quantum's post on TWO? Basically saying that lots of instability moves in tonight with high levels of CAPE... found the chart he was on about...

He also posted a precipitation radar showing some snow linked to it...

if they make their way over then it makes our showers now look like drizzle.

:D I certainly wouldn't be heading out in just a jeans and t-shirt in that kind of forecast, thermals, layers, alpine kit and emergency bivvy. It all depends on how long this laboring job takes if it's still not cancelled by the morning but the route is more/less sheltered away from the easterly winds and not too far away from civilization despite it being relatively isolated.

You can see the instability over to the North East, some real firecrackers going off up there, they'll measuring foot falls in some parts soon I think.

Iceland website with data from the ECM, looks good for my location Thurs and Friday, there's a search option.

Got no idea what's going to happen from Thursday onwards, all the models seem different, not seen a TV forecast that goes past Thursday, hope we get something big out of this before it warms up again....

Chorley just seems a bit too far west.

Showers fizzling out before they get here.

Snowing...probably about 20 minutes of this and then I think smaller bits and pieces after that.  Should leave an icy, compacted and pretty treacherous journey out of the side roads to work tomorrow.
