The bulk of the amber warning zone looks like missing out on most of the snow at present. Just goes to show how tricky these things are to forecast.

I made this point yesterday, the graphics didn't fit with the amber warning, so was it that tricky?

Salwick and the Fylde. Decent covering. Windless powder snow started about 3am. Radar looks showery and tomorrow is the coldest day to -6 min.

Is the gap in the snow filling in between Manchester and North Yorkshire?

This is going to really help the temperature stay suppressed and get low at night. We should retain this cover all week.

Providing it doesn't get windy and drift against walls.. it's great.. you have heavier than here which is unusual ?

Huge streamer missing the South Coast and going along the channel. Guernsey getting battered.

We have  now about reached what we got on 18th January 2013. Bear in mind that took all the morning to accumulate, this has taken about an hour and a half.

How much do you reckon we could get out of this, Chris?

Not sure, not very good at that sort of thing. Think it might get lighter for a while and then heavier again. Still think there is a lot in it yet.

Here's a thought, Chris, reef has made this point on the Yorkshire thread, but you probably  on the west coast has got more snow than some places on the east coast in this easterly flow so far!

It stopped here now.

Maybe it's because of the shadow effect.

Just woke to a sugar coated covering here, as expected the trip over higher ground to the east took a lot of humph out of the band... Still a few blobs on the radar coming in our direction, but they will probably be mere specs when they arrive to the west side of the pens

its good to see most of the region joining in the fun as just shows how the final location is so difficult to pin down.

here with had about 3cm so far and it’s still falling lightly.

Another large shower looks to be heading into the region from North Yorkshire at the moment.
