Congratulations! Would you like a Certificate sent in the post? Because I could'nt give a monkeys fella! I was simply defending a member of the forum who was being ridiculed in public. You need 3 which I have in abundance when it comes to getting by on here: (1) a thick skin (2) experience and (3) maturity....Carpe diem? (And all that!)

Chill.

At the end of the Day it's just the weather and it will do whatever it wants.

Yes not bettered here since, however, that was a very different set up, an active occluded front which stalled over the region coming unstuck against a cold block. Those are the best set ups for heavy snowfall over the NW, especially Cumbria.

I'm thinking more back to 26/27 Jan 96 when we managed 5 inches from a convective easterly and frontal feature from the east.

We can receive significant snow when fronts move in from the south as well and become slow moving as suggested end of the week, then the cold air remains at the surface and often the cold hits back from the north, 23 Feb 1994 springs to mind here.. 1 ft of snow.

Your memory serves you better than  mine as we had only been in in UK 4 months , but it was noteworthy .

18z is again rather progressive with the milder uppers moving in. We should still have a period of heavy snow though.

Well below -3'c here and still falling, I expect temps will level-out once the showers get further inland by the early morning hours.

The beast has barely kicked in and we have snow in east Oldham & Shaw. Very light and floaty but snow is better than no.

Fabulous text updates from BBC/METO this morning!!

BBC

Tuesday

On Tuesday it will be another cold day with sunny spells, but also further snow showers pushing in from the east. The snow showers could be heavy.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday

On Wednesday, bitterly cold easterly winds will bring in snow showers. Remaining very cold on Thursday with a risk of the snow showers merging to give longer periods of snow. Overnight and through Friday there is the potential for the snow to become persistent and locally heavy bringing the risk of significant accumulations quite widely.

METO

Today:

A cold and frosty start, although it will be dry with sunny spells for many. Feeling bitterly cold with a brisk easterly wind, which will bring some scattered snow showers during the afternoon. It should stay dry towards the coast. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

Further scattered snow showers in the east, but mostly dry with clear spells and a severe frost. Possibly a spell of more persistent snow arriving from the east by dawn. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

Tuesday:

A spell of persistent snow is likely to move southwestwards across some parts during Tuesday morning. Further scattered snow showers to follow. Feeling bitterly cold. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Extremely cold with a significant wind chill for most. Frequent snow showers throughout, but also some brighter spells. Probably a spell of prolonged snowfall arriving from the south during Friday.

Just going to leave that here and hopefully most of us will do well..

I'm busy today so wont have time to post :)

A very good sign that light snow is making it over the hill before the flow becomes stronger through tomorrow onwards, just light flurries blowing around and sticking to cars now here , temps and dews below freezing.
