Brace yourselves!!! That is some serious cold coming in and only at 162! It's becoming more believable by the day!

I think the way the 18z goes might be quite likely. Some severe cold for a few days but milder air coming up from the south.

Still I’d be happy with that! Some snow about and the coldest 850s we’ve had over us for a while!

I'm not entirely sure there will be severe cold. This is the word of the day but with a breeze from the east, increased solar input (given it is not far from March).. I cannot foresee any very cold surface air particularly with the easterly airflow picking up. I suspect there will be many nights below 0C but not far below 0C and days will be around 0C. If we don't get snow surface cold will be rather underwhelming considering the upper air profile if we base it on the current charts.

This however can change if the easterly slackens off.. then we can really tap into very cold stagnant air.. which may still happen of course.
