Got more wind than the Pennines

Kalanticon gel which can be bought at the chemist is good for that anti flatulent antispasmodic and great for excess acid but you have to ask for it and obviously not taking anything that's simalar but they will ask about meds

Nice cover of snow first thing this morning, again about an inch, we can't seem to get over the 5cm mark this winter.. Alas unlike last Tuesday/Wednesday, the snow quickly thawed in the sunshine, but it felt cold still this afternoon.

Chance we might see some sleety wet snow in the morning, but it looks a high ground event. The Met Office warning is very odd though, NW Cumbria including coast only, then snow on the Pennines - but it is moving east through the region, so don't know why other parts of Cumbria are not included given the topography, so I wouldn't be surprised to see heavy snow in central parts of the Lakes down to valley level for a time.

Looking forward to some drier conditions by the weekend hopefully, frost and sunshine, and with the sun gaining some strength now, in light winds, it could begin to feel a little springlike.

Can't quite belive you got an inch! I live 5 miles from Windermere and we had a megre 1mm sprinkling so you were very lucky, or typically, I was very unlucky AGAIN!!!!

Thought things were bad, but when your missing out on decent snow by <5 miles....well...ugh...I give up!

If you put your location in profile it might help us explain local geography factors contributing to it. It may be an elevation factor at play here. That or you are extremely unlucky.

Yes where is your location, surprised you missed out, there was widespread snow over most of S Cumbria overnight down to 50 metres at least.

Aye possibly a rain shadow

Or a simple height issue. I'm wondering if Barmada_Casten lives in a valley between two of the many hills in that area which can be as low as 20-30m (the valley height that is) asl, and isn't counting snow on the hill next door as an event?

Looking at previous posts, I think Ambleside is the location.

Well that would be rather odd. Ambleside gets about the same amount of snow as Windermere, and has had quite a few snowfalls, just like we have. Its within the snowy central lakes zone, we are just on the southern boundary and do well, when places a few miles south don't, just enough height, proximity to the fells and distance from the coast.
