Can't be arsed posting it but AROME shows a good few cm of fresh snow accumulating on the Pennines tomorrow. After being lucky last night looks like I might not be high enough this time round.

Ties in with metoffice warning area. I reckon this is about right with only the higher hills further South in with a chance of anything significant. Will hold my hands up if I'm wrong. Are the BBC still persisting with their snowmageddon graphics from earlier?

Not here anyway.

However the mod thread appear to think we are in for a real snowmaggeddon by the end of the week.

Last night delivered here (although quite a rapid melt in the 'getting stronger' sunshine), but tomorrow I'd gladly skip, because it looks like a few hours of wet slush at best.  I'd rather it push through quickly than drag it's heels and spoil the best part of the day.

SSW, reverse zonal winds and beast from the East rolling in from the Siberian Express in the fantasy league charts...(snow starved southerners hammering out the pages in the Model thread)... but will it happen?

You jest but I'm sure some unsuspecting souls were out in tents in last nights surprise snow, as some of the lake district campsites start re-opening about this time for February half terms. Remember as a kid going camping there in February with my dad on a nice sunny day to wake up the next morning and need to get the neighbouring campers to lend us their stove to unfreeze our toothbrushes as the gas canister (which must have been butane - i don't remember) had stopped working. One of the more memorable family camping trips anyway..

Nice cover of snow first thing this morning, again about an inch, we can't seem to get over the 5cm mark this winter.. Alas unlike last Tuesday/Wednesday, the snow quickly thawed in the sunshine, but it felt cold still this afternoon.

Chance we might see some sleety wet snow in the morning, but it looks a high ground event. The Met Office warning is very odd though, NW Cumbria including coast only, then snow on the Pennines - but it is moving east through the region, so don't know why other parts of Cumbria are not included given the topography, so I wouldn't be surprised to see heavy snow in central parts of the Lakes down to valley level for a time.

Looking forward to some drier conditions by the weekend hopefully, frost and sunshine, and with the sun gaining some strength now, in light winds, it could begin to feel a little springlike.

1.9°C now. I wonder if an air frost is off the cards yet.
