Pincer movement with the two streamers, and I'm stuck in the middle of no-man's land at the moment.  That said maybe some showers popping up in the middle of the two line of showers?

Seems to be a tough thats back building. Crewe / Sandbach look to be in a good position.

Nothing but sunshine and short intermittent snizzle showers. The fact that there isn't much of a covering on the hills does not bode well. Sun seems to strong and temps too strong not helping any gallon snow settle. Early Feb and it seems almost spring like! If I had believed the previous days firecasts we would have had snow showers since the early hours and have an inch or two by now! Certainly not getting my hopes for the rest of the day or the coming days either....

Is there a reason why precipitation entering the Irish Sea from Northern Ireland dies out? It comes in across the Atlantic, passes over Northern Ireland then suddenly as it hits the Irish sea it dies out.

The precipitation that passes through the North Channel is surviving the journey over SW Scotland and over that part of the Irish Sea.

Yes i wondered that myself Kevin, seen it happening quite a lot this winter.

Looks like we are relying on a streamer setting up, had one hail shower here and its approaching 1pm.

Another epic fail from the meto and bbc apps which had snow showers all morning/.

Long Hill between Whaley and Buxton, A6 past Dove Holes, and the Cat&Fiddle impassible due to the ice and snow. And that DCC hasn't gritted for the second time this year when snow was forecast.

I admit it doesn't look great at the moment, but still think it is very early days still for this 'event'. If we get to 6pm this evening and not much has improved then we may be close to being able to say game over. I still think we could see significant developments during the afternoon. There have been occasions in the past when the Irish Sea has literally exploded into life within the space of an hour.

I guess it's all down to the showers losing their fuel of the sea as they cross over land.

Anyways showers here turning increasing to snow here, quite heavy and I'm right by the sea so bodes well for others later on hopefully.

Yes im sure your right Dexter :)

As you say though, we need to see this radar coming to life soon, trouble is, every single time we have had a north westerly ive said the same thing every time, and the radar hasnt come to life.
