That seems strangely low?

The TORRO records show at least 27c for the first 7 days of May...although of course the bank holiday may have just danced around any hot weather!

Yes...Yes that is the case . In all seriousness, 23.6c seems rather low even with the common dull weather that accompanies bank - holiday weather!

1995 was the hottest with 28.6c in Cheltenham but it was recorded on the 6th which meant it missed the BH Monday

1st-4th May records all held by 1990, which were a Tues-Fri. Strange indeed!

London's top 10 cloudiest springs

1. 298.7 hrs (1981)
2. 350.1 hrs (1975)
3. 351.7 hrs (2006)
4. 375.6 hrs (1983)
5. 388.4 hrs (2013)
6. 388.6 hrs (2008)
7. 390.7 hrs (1964)
8. 399.9 hrs (1991)
9. 402.8 hrs (1960)
10. 406.0 hrs (1996)

March and April combined have recorded 165.2 hrs so far, though 5 days are missing. Even if we are generous and add 15 hours to that total (180.2 hours), we would need May to record at least 118.5 hours to avoid the cloudiest spring on record, or 169.9 hours to avoid being 2nd cloudiest.

Got slightly sunburnt on a field trip on that Friday before that Bank Holiday weekend. 1990 was one of those years that has stuck in my memory.

Its not gonna be 3 days long though :yahoo: It can stay upwards of  70f until  October.. Hopefully be above average temperature wise this year. I know the Met Office is predicting that for most of May. Apart from odd break down now and then :pardon:

As we discussed, it was a strangely low record that was bound to be smashed eventually!
