The April record has already gone here just after midday! Currently 24.2C beating the old record of 24.0C set in 2011.

Wow, that's nice and toasty for Hedon !
My therm. reads 22.5 C here at the moment.
Such a quick turnaround from being so cold.

Indeed, quite a shock to the system.

We had a max of 6.7C last Thursday and are up to 25.9C so far today. Not quite up to the 0 to 38C you mentioned in Oklahoma yesterday, but pretty unusual for the UK.

Has there ever been a year where a location has set a monthly record low and then a monthly record high in the same year?

There's a chance it could happen by the end of today.

I do like spring for the variation, and it never really gets warm enough to be uncomfortable.

I'm not so sure, Nick...It's 27C now and it feels just the same as 27C does in June. Too hot!:sorry:

This is pretty exceptional though to be fair, it's just about tolerable for me.

The last time I ever experienced this kind of heat in April was way back in 2003, in the Scottish Highlands; the air was much drier then and there though, so it never felt uncomfortable...?

Either that, or I'm fast turning into to a miserable old git!:D

A high of 29.5c would make it the hottest April day on record

Still time to do it yet

Looking at maps of 'public' weather stations it might. While the data from them is often la la, they do show that the SE has warmed up even more with now most of the ones around London showing around 30c on the Mets own public station list - http://wow.metoffice.gov.uk/

Indicates its probably going to get in the 29's somewhere.

The south-easterly sea breeze has kicked in now so it looks like 26.1C is our maximum for the day. It's smashed the April record by a whole 2.1C and is a mere 14.7C above the 1981-2010 average for the 19th April.

For some idea of how warm that is for this location at this time of the year. In the last 38 years there have only been 9 days warmer than this before 15th June!

27C here. This easily beats April 2003 and I think you'd have to go back many decades to find an earlier 80F day.

A real mad Spring considering we saw two spells in March where ice days were recorded quite widely. Add to that we have also seen some extremely wet weather at times and also just a week ago some incredibly dull weather.

I guess all we are missing is some proper convective activity, hopefully the weekend should sort that.

No weather stations give a reliable reading for skem. Must be knocking on for 23 though.
