Is there no one in the Scilly isles who can confirm whether it is rain or snow? I  think it only snows there once every 20 years?

You must have it confused with the west country? :sorry:

We just had a few sleety drops from that passing grey cloud.
Its trying to do something, but just not enough.
I'm thinking we must be the last drops of this from the SE.
The sun and blue skies are back again and temp has risen to 5.2c

Haha!

That's it for us, the bbc forecast update is now showing light cloud for the rest of the day.
They got it right today though, they said sleet mid morning and we got some.

Looking at the radars too, none of any wet stuff on the horizon.

despite the modelled parameters, an early morning shower here was fine rain......Canada & to a certain degree th SE get lake-effect snow in these set-ups....My location gets bake-effect...lol, and talk of snow tomorrow sounds a bit fishy to me....that must be hake-effect snow then....I'll fetch me coat

The cold front which is "expected" to deliver the snow in the South West has just arrived on the west side of Ireland as rain. Ahead of it are temperatures of 5, 6, 7 and 8 degrees. It is also a very narrow band of precipitation. Oh dear.

After reading the plethora of good posts by catacol and chiono last night, I feel as though the models will certainly be worth watching in the coming week/10 days. I would expect a run or two from the GFS will create some histeria within that time frame, as the modeled SSW begins to cause some chaos, tropospherically. Interesting to note, that the NAO, having been +VE for quite some time, shows a 50/50 split (dropping off vs maintaining +VE) by the 16th. I wonder if more members will start to trend downwards, or even -VE?

Wonder if the upper level low that is due to bring widespread snow to France might just help our front keep some more moisture? Purely conjecture, but I think this might be why it picks up again towards the SE in recent hi-res runs.

Oooh Im liking the western edge of that :)

If it could just stall like that for a few hours the east of the region wouldn’t do too bad. Shame it doesn’t cover the rest and won’t happen like that anyway.
