Nice one fromey! Exactly what I was trying to say in Mod thread. The fact Ian is clearly excited by it in his comments speaks volumes!

Yeah..definately down plays cold as is always spot on. Well except last week when he commented about this week being pretty cold and snowy.

Ian gets his info from his contacts and wouldnt post anything without good evidence. But remember he is qualified in sharks and not metreology!

Funny when you ask a genuine question in the Mod thread you don’t get an answer..

Anyone in here know?

this chart suggests a :db: qtr is not appearing. But is this just the result of an operational run that has just rolled out and hasn’t smelt the coffee yet? Or is it gathered from separate data?

TIA

Sorry if I’m straying off topic

No cause for concern, I imagine a quick trop response is a rare occurence anyway. Given cross model support for the Sudden Stratospheric Warming (Ie GFS, ECM, CFS & Glosea) I think it almost irrelevant whether the effects of the downwelling of the 10hPa warming is instant. Even if the lag time is notable, high latitude blocking will still be evident as early as mid to late February. Also ignore anyone who spouts crap about sun strength!

By migraine territory does he mean he ventured to the mad thread?

I dare some to copy what Ian said but without the “Amy says” bit and post it in the mad thread and see what happens!

Down to 1.9 °C with the dew point at 0°C

I was going to take some star pictures, as it's nice and clear, but the neighbour has a floodlight on and it shows up too much. I'll try tomorrow!

Hopefully not anytime soon. Too early for that.

It’s not often in our region that we get down to freezing when there is a breeze!

im at 0C now, likely to get below that! Sure sign cold air aloft has very much arrived!

Evening All. Had hail and sleet earlier from those showers in the East. Made it this far was quite surprising. Hope we can all at least some snow falling over coming days, albeit might not be a huge amount.

Still 1.7°C here but even so it's not often ice forms on surfaces with a breeze either which is what we've got here.

Weather headlines are out..although judging by the comments peeps more and more are getting fed up with them and increasingly “it’s winter what do you expect” post seem to appear more. But really who writes these headlines .. brits urged to brace the cold? Urge? Why urge? Brace yourselves it may be a tad nippy. Keep the gloves and hat on.. maybe .. but urge? http://huffp.st/ONSUPhZ ... rant over .. :wallbash::cc_confused::nea::rofl:

I like warm weather but don't like it arriving too soon. Let winter have it's chance to shine first. :D

Euro 4 looked decent for Tuesday, showed the band staying organised, it is the Euro4 however and we know it can exaggerate the precipitation signal!
