I know what you mean, it is frustrating but I think they are taking a step back for two reasons

a) They don’t want to cause panic - this will mean people start to panic buy and add more stress to services unnecessarily ie the NHS before it even has to start

b) it’s too early yet. I think we will start to see warnings by Friday. Should the model output continue as it is.

As you say, it would be crazy for them to start warning the general public now. Friday at the earliest is my guess.

The televised weather reports so dull and boring, We have one of the most exciting weather events coming up in at least 8years, one that has the potential to be a record breaker and all they can say is it might get cold and icy.  Am not asking them too exaggerate or anything but at least expand and explain what is going on and explain the potential this Easterly has.k instead they prefer chatting about bloody KFC running out of chicken :s

maybe the forecasters are instructed to downplay it a bit until things firm up for the risk of not causing unwanted panic?!

Nipping in from South East thread.  Yes I've often wondered whether they cannot announce till the very last practible minute for exactly the reason you mention.  People do panic buy and clear shelves and cause pressure on vital services.  This is probably why things are played down.

Big set of 12z coming up.

I think we should see a steadying of the ship with regards the Easterly & cold, with slight inter mod variances of differing levels cold & snow

I’m Liking the reassuring posts from the Top Dogs in the Mad thread! But until I see it in black n white on the 12z, I’m still nervous! The explanations from Nick L and Catacol however do make perfect sense.

Give me 'today' over cold and dry anyday.

Had our garden completely madeover last few weeks so i've just spent an hour or so breaking up old stuff to take to the tip. Outside our front of house is a suntrap this time of year and it is beautifully warm in the sun, out of the wind. Sat here with a cup of tea soaking up the sun:D

Sat here in a short-sleeved shirt.

Cold pool seems to be constantly increased and deepen with each day.

Another stellar run! :santa-emoji:

Its quite remarkable! Kind of programmed to expect the worst living down here, but this time things just seem to be going right for once.

Even @Nights King seems to be coming round to it. Surely you must be thinking about getting on board?
