A report map shows people in Poole and Bournemouth felt it. I didn't feel anything here, and I was sat quietly in the room watching TV. So they're either telling porkies or wanting to jump on the bandwagon.

Didn’t feel anything here either.

I was sat in armchair watching the horse racing and just finishing my Saturday footie accumulator. I thought someone had knocked on front door rather heavily and muttered as i got up "No need to bang the door so heavily!":D

We were at home, and nothing here, so I think some porkers are around..

Earthquakes can be felt many hundreds of miles away as often it's the P-Waves and not the the S-Waves that cause the most damage, how the energy is dispersed outwards but can be dissipated or amplified by different layers of rock. Area's of Granite/Limestone for example might experience the initial tremor for a second or two whilst area's of sandstone traps the energy so the shaking can last more stronger and for a longer duration due to the excess 'bleed-off' of energy that's passing.

BBC have now picked this up - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43097113

Quote

A minor earthquake has affected parts of Wales and England.

Shaking has been reported across south Wales, the south west of England and the Midlands.

Early data from the United States Geological Survey measured the quake to be a 4.2 magnitude tremor.

The British Geological Survey said it was in the process of analysing data.

Felt the quake in Stroud - was lying down (recovering from flu, nothing exciting), bed shook for 4-5 seconds. Thought my fever was back but water was shaking in a glass nearby.

Must be an omen about winter returning, maybe I’ll float that idea in the MOD thread....
