Snowing in Frome

Big flakes a little bit stop and start when it falls they are very big flakes  and looking at the radar it does look like some more could be on the way as long as the Welsh mountains don’t suck it dry yet again

It'll be warm enough by then to fall as rain should it reach the south coast..

That snow looking pretty locked in around the River Severn. Could do well round there!

Mark this in history, some decent intensity of precipitation has made it past the Welsh mountains lol!

Bursts of snow blowing in at the moment, very blustery showers and gusty NW wind. Didn't see this coming earlier when it was clear, sunny and with a patterned frost on cars * .

Wasn't expecting 15mm of rain overnight either.

* Incidentally, does anybody know why/how those amazing 'leafy' frost patterns form?

I'm so Jealous zilch here.

Don't be too jealous. It was pretty heavy for a good 20 minutes and didn't even settle on the cars here. Stopped now.

Few flakes in the air but right on the western edge of ppn so just light here.

Might be interesting around high ground of Bath area though... :)

Very true.

I couldn’t believe the amount they get up there the top of Bath a 46 towards the M4 flat park at the top

Just after Christmas I drove over to Suffolk Rendlesham and nothing all the way there and on the way back I drove back the M4 route turning off at the A46  and it was absolutely plastered with no proper snow first and all over the roads as well .  That has to be one of the snobbiest places from that. Eastwards right over to Suffolk

Snowing heavily at home when I left, turned to rain as I dropped down off the hills, at work near Bristol now and there's nothing here. Gritters out on the A37, do they know something we don't or just using up their load before getting back to the depot?

I think over the weekend its progged for. But the effects can take up to anything from a week to 3 weeks and there is no guarantee that deep cold will find its way to these shores.

At the moment its all a bit of a fantasy I should think by this time next week we'll start to see if we have tickets for the lottery (i can see us getting 3 numbers so below average temps with cold rain but then again I've been awake most the night with my poorly 2 year old so after a good night sleep it might edge up to 4 numbers)

Thanks for that FK. I hope your little one gets better soon.  My two have been out of sorts over the last week too. Good luck ?

Snow has cleared now but just 5/10 miles further west on trough and we would have had settling snow I think jeth..

Looks like that area of wintry precipitation on the radar is going to skim by me to the north east,as per usual.Going to visit my daughter soon in Sturminster Marshall so might get to see a few flakes/grains there.
