I feel we need a cold spell more than ever, the cynics in here are growing by the day! :nonono:

I however shall not accept spring until such time that it’s not possible for wintery patterns.

If the northerners faced the winters we have had they’d be frothing from the mouth. Well done for always keeping positive Karlos I try my best to keep upbeat too, the big one is coming I sense..

My eldest is nearly 12, he used to watch the snow out of the window with me in amazement when he was younger, now when I say it’s snowing Finley, he barely raises an eyebrow let alone get off his backside! My other 2 are 4 and 7, neither will remember snow falling let alone playing in it. ☹️ I just want to build some memories with them that I had when I was a kid more than anything, and let my little princess sing do you wanna build a snowman to me for proper before she’s too old!

So I won’t give up until I start getting tan marks ? then spring may continue!

Whens the magic date then? My cut off is March 12th.......think 2013.

So there is still 4 and half weeks torturing myself over chasing the cold and 4 and half weeks of enjoying this lovely  forum....or did i get that the wrong way round.

....having said that it did snow on April 23rd last year at my gaff

Usually i say mid march. But SSW years I would delay that until early April

Sorry Springlife'rs, but it's a possible reality if cold gets a grip in march!

Very true but tends to always be a bit of both. Lovely day today though feeling warm in the sun. Managed a pint outside at lunchtime first outdoor one of the year...and this week was supposedly cold and snowing lol

I'm not sure I should keep posting in this thread as dark forces are at work

Anyway in the interim the showers have died out down here and now a layer of high Ac. The warmer air can be seen encroaching and probable cloud layer can be seen on the 1200 ascent.

A drunk reported snow last night in the area at midnight, not conclusive but a start. When I went out,in the shade I saw non frost crystals....possible snow...in the SE  thread this would be referred to as an event, but not here in Reality City,so having seen nothing but dry pretty well as it snowed in numerous places around me im actually going to research micro climate on the internet as I truly believe I live in one.About 100 years ago when I was young,i wrote to the Met Office, asking where the most productive wind direction for snow in the area here was from, the answer was north easterly, which might be part of the answer, not a usual direction for here, also of course, you need cold to tap into,so micro climate research begins.

My cut off is 4th April. Moved house on that day in 2000 and we had nigh on a foot of snow on the Mendips that day.

Don't get me wrong,I do love snow. Just not very excited by dandruff and even less enamoured by intense cold. The misery of 2010 is still fresh in my head:cold: But there t's something magical about a snow day with little people :D

I can't believe I was down the seaside in a t-shirt at lunchtime, the sun on my face & skin was so very welcome!

Back to the cold, dark now :(

I remember that! It’s the day after my birthday and I was working at Farrington Golf Club at the time!

Yes I remember that day well :friends:

Just returned home and I was quite surprised to see the snow still hasn't thawed up top :D

Slight covering which is pathetic but does look pretty.

Same here, even bits that must have been in the sun are still covered, can only assume the ground is colder than I thought.
