Imagine if all this rain was snow ?

With the amount of rain that has fallen here, there would be very little snow as well. lol

I'm surprised they go the forecast so wrong, it was pretty evident across many charts they it wouldn't be too bad.

I love snow, but not enough to move house.

In all fairness, you're right, this is not a good place to live if you like anything extreme. Poor for snow and cold, not very good for summer storms either.

I think I will need to book myself some weather holidays in the years to come, storm chasing for storms and Iceland or Norway for cold and snow.

Ha, fair point. We already pack off to find sun, soon it will be storms and snow too!

On a day like today, I've been looking through photos from last winter, particularly January, here are a few:

December 01st - Frosty North Somerset (-6C)

image.jpeg

December 04th - Frosty morning in Bristol's Castle Park

image.jpeg

January 05th - Heavy frost in North Somerset countryside again

image.jpeg

January 13th - The one and only snowfall of the winter

image.jpeg

January 21st - More sparkling frost and sunshine in North Somerset (-6-7C)

image.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.362298d0ecf018bc9cf39a66e7baf481.jpeg

I miss that!

When you look at the local football around here these are just of the last games played.

Bodmin Town - 27th December

Callington Town - 13th December!!!

Its just been raining most periods since New Year. My last walk on Dartmoor was 1st January in a window of relative nice mid morning. The moors were saturated then so lord knows what they’re like now!

Totally sodden!

I wouldn't say it's that bad here for cold and snow, the three or four winters prior to the 2013/2014 each had at least one snow event here with snow lying,

It's just been crap here since the 2013/2014 winter, despite the two falls of snow we'e had this winter, neither of which ended  with settling snow, well apart from a little on cars and grass anyway.

Been miserable day here so far today though, hasn't stopped pouring all god damn day!

My wife and I are regular US storms chasers, we love it, but again the weather doesn't play ball, we've had more down spells than actual chases. As for Iceland and Norway, yet to get there but it's on the tuit list..

I’m surprised more people aren’t commenting about the amount of rain. It’s crazy out there!

Just drizzly spells here. Most of the afternoon hasn't seen any rain. MetO/Euro4 got that one wrong. NetWx SR was spot on!

It literally hasn’t stopped all day. There’s a red flood alert on one of the local rivers and the roads are like rivers too!

Well sh@@load rain here in Stroud today - still going. Cars had snow on earlier when out and about, Painswick Beacon was white for a bit, as was Bisley apparently (over 800ft at the top).

Temp on outdoor thermometer was 1c at 8.30am, 3c 3pm, 7c a few minutes ago. Bye bye cold..

Saw some snow on the ground here this morning, it soon turned to rain, temp was 0.8C, been a wet horrible day here, currently 3C and I have 22.8mm in the gauge and it's still raining, fields are flooded in a lot of places and a friend was out rescuing his lambs this afternoon as the his farm does suffer badly from flooding. Best light the fire me thinks!

And more to come overnight.... jese.

This winter is turning into a wet fest. Not a sniff of snow as per down here. Nearly 24 years since we had a decent snowfall here.

Regardless its a lot of rain! I dread to think wheat I have had on mendip today(rain guage broken) but the roads are shockingly bad out there and the rain just keeps on falling.

It hasn’t actually been that bad here, a couple hours of heavy rain, apart from that it’s been drizzly or light rain! We’re just on the edge of it looking at the radar throughout today.

Edit: Just looked on wunderground and 8/9mm seems to be the general consensus for here
