Yeah but that gap seems to be heading for us

Snowing heavily in Telford TF3 for the last half-hour since I woke up, a couple of inches overnight.

I’m hoping it will fill in. The radar is looking excellent. I work in a school I expect to be home by lunch time haha

under a band in the West that’s over Shrewsbury and north shropshire and it’s getting more intense as morning goes on. Clear on the radar grabs for the last half hour. No schools shut here but they might get caught out by this.

Even if if they were shut no one would know as the shropshire council website crashed and can’t  viewed! Classic.

What's actually causing the large area of precipitation that's been there for the last 6 hours? I can't be a constant stream of showers it just appears to be one solid block of snowfall

Much to my amazement things around Derby seem to be pepping up, the area of snow expanding from the NE and dropping SW slightly. Why is there no warning from this? It's added at least 3CM since 1am.

To be honest, I don't think we would get much more than what's lying now from the 2 systems expected later and tomorrow to be close calls. So if they don't appear, I'm happy to have had my snow fix.

Forgot to say @Snowy L it looks like we are both happy now! Nottingham taken a beating since last night!

The BBC forecast looks detached from the real time situation- no mention of the fact there is significant snow in the East Midlands!

We're surrounded and it's not even the main band yet. Light snow here.

Its snowing pretty steadily in leicester right now to my surprise!!arpege gives around 7cms of snow by midnigght for leicester!!the snow is not settling here is it cos its too light or cos its too windy and its just whipping it around and not giving it time to settle!!

It will be getting blown into every little hiding place as far as paths roads are  concerned. you should notice it start to build up on the grass though

It's a very poor situation - they must have access to a radar!

In Nottingham we have 6 inches or so. Surely an amber warning should be in force for here?!?

Wow, can understand sticking to the script before something happens but not during. 6-7 inches of snow widely here and we are just about in a yellow warning.

This has to be the most over-hyped non-event in weather history. I just want Spring to happen now to save on heating costs. This bitter cold with no snow does nothing for me.

Not really, as I said Monday the midlands isn't the best placed region for easterly's unless it's a really good one! (eg; 1991,1987) , it was met with laughter deathly silence on this forum!!  , We rely on fronts other disturbances to bring us significant snow!, this generally happens at or near initial breakdown.

I'd advise everyone this morning to watch radar because i'm not buying Mets forecast.

Currently; Gales - blowing snow.

Snow gap in Wolverhampton, that hole over this Town/City just will not fill in. Very very light here, could snow like this all day, but next to nothing would accumulate, but very cold.
