Proper snow, at last. Actually sticking instead of being blown away by the wind.

Still going. 7 days straight on which it has snowed :D

More back in London well not now. ;)

I must say I don’t ever recall seeing compacted snow and ice in city center for days and a high of -2.8C on Wednesday pretty surreal. It was a great cold spell in London shame it wasn’t longer..

Strange. There's been nothing on the radar for a while but it's still snowing.

 Is it heavy still?

It was quite light. It has now stopped. Left the first proper covering of the week thanks to it being a little wetter and the wind less strong.

Woke up to the sound of rain hammering against the window!

Adios beast, come back next year! (Or this year, in December!)

Heavy rain on the window this morning marking the end of a great week of cold weather. Have to say it's been extremely frustrating at times but we got some decent snow in the end.

Ps it's amazing how the heavy bursts on the radar seem to make it to us when it rains but if it's snow it dies away lol ?

The beast has left the house ?

Thaw underway then, drip drip spoiling the beauty of his legacy with murk, fog and drizzle.

Payback time folks, but it was good while it lasted.

Oh well gradually back to normal and then time to get out the golf clubs for me.

Wouldn't say no to that event on the 300hrs, (16th March) GFS chart, i know it won't happen but that would be some event. Might be, and only might, be worth keeping tabs on something developing at the start of next week (12th onwards), that was the 00hrs GFS run.

Seem to have missed the rain, but we did have a bit of snow and my appp still saying snow.!!

Snow is down about 2 cms now so still have 8- 10cms left, including some on trees. branches, etc.. though it is going now..

Up to 21 days with snow falling with 25 laying.

Wind has dropped out now and the temperatures have finally moved to a true positive.

Current temp now +2.6C, dp  is +1.8C. The first time my dp has been positive for 8 days.

Truly a remarkable spell of temperatures, and we ended up with some reasonable snowfall, but without the exceptional drifting of more country areas.

See you all later.

Farewell Beastie! Thank you for the lovely memories! :)

Some fairly heavy rain here this morning, resulting in very misty conditions. Just noticed the temperature here has finally edged above 5°C for the first time in exactly a week.

Up to 5 °C now, for the first time in exactly a week. Last Sunday, though, that temperature was accompanied by blazing sunshine and it felt fantastic to be out and about. Today, it's overcast and drizzly and murky and yuk. Still a mostly complete covering in the garden, but I doubt much will be left by nightfall.

Although I wouldn't entirely rule out a late surprise or two, I think I can live without them now. Short of something incredible like April 1981, anything we did get would just feel like a pale reflection of past glories, especially as it would probably be marginal and slushy at best here in Bewdley.

Best winter for years all round, in spite of a rather uninspiring January. My scoreboard for the December and Feb/March spells:

Hits

* Deepest single-day (23 cm) and total (28 cm) snow cover for decades on 11 Dec, beating even 1991

* A Cheshire Gap streamer on 9 Dec that delivered shower after shower and left 8 cm, very unusual for here

* 24 hours of pretty much continuous snow in December

* Snow falling in daylight during both spells

* Very deep cold uppers (I think -16 °C was the lowest here)

* Three successive ice days -- and from 28/2 to 2/3!!!

* Snowdrifts! Only smallish ones, nothing above 18 inches, but they count

* Pure easterly powder snow, totally non-marginal on every occasion

* An actual blizzard! Okay, it lasted 15 minutes, but visibility was about 50 metres

* Wind scouring the snow off roads and creating snow devils

* A really severe wind chill, the coldest I've experienced in many years

Misses

* No freezing rain -- although I don't mind that one!

* The easterly only lasted a week, rather than being extended

* None of the enormous snow drifts places not that far away got

* No exceptional night minima -- lowest was -6.6 °C

* No bright sunshine on extensive snow cover -- Jan 2010 remains the king on that score

I've probably forgotten something, but that will do for now!
