Yh Met say possible snow tomoz night now also. We currently have very heavy snow approaching 14cms. Drifts not far of my window. And totally agree Met really should have put an Amber alert for West Mids this is now as bad as December with more still to come.

GFS too

I think my local weather station (Monkspath) is having one of its funny turns tonight, it's been showing the exact same temperature (-1.9°C) for almost four hours now! :fool:

Bish

I was stuck at -2.6c for about 3 hours moved to -3.2c and now at -2.4c....:pardon:

This is becoming an epic snow event in my part of Northants, the snow drifts on the roads today I haven't seen since the 80's, after tonight's snow most roads must be blocked!

On my Facebook I shared a picture tonight between geddington and great oakley the drifts was as high as the hedges never seen that in my lifetime and still snowing.

Hi DRL, Do you know why when using mobile phones you can't see someone's location , Laptop/desktop etc is okay ....?

Hi Dancerwithwings, I think it’s to try simplify the viewing experience on mobiles or to save some data space (although the latter wouldn’t explain why you can view someone’s location on PC’s etc, lol ?). Or maybe it’s so mobile users can’t find out where people live... :diablo:

...unless you click on the person’s name in a post ?

Putting the snow and freezing temperatures aside for a moment, how long have these high winds been blowing for?  Feels like we've had them for over 40 hours now, that must be pretty unprecedented.

I would include Tue/Wed, blizzards at times those 2 days, wind howling, especially in a shower

Despite the fact the wind has blown a lot of the lying snow away, it's been a great few days weather wise.

Not often the UK gets blasted by relentless, strong easterly winds. Horrible to walk in and annoying that it's spoilt the snow cover this week but the snow drifting and the mini blizzards are nice to watch.

The anarchy of it all and the feeling of not being able to do anything to stop it has really hit me this week.  Just shows how feeble we really are when Mother Nature bares her teeth.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!!

For the dudes up in Wawrickshire and Leicestershire... Do you think it's snowed enough up there this evening to affect the running of train services tomorrow? Meant to be catching the train up from Oxford to Leicester in the morning but at the moment, I can't see it going smoothly. Had quite a lot of snow in Oxfordshire today.

This was the forecast from the met office earlier regarding the ppn in the south, as you can see it was supposedly meant for SW.

 Miles further east now.Screenshot_2018-03-02-22-27-38.thumb.png.97d4590810682fb0b6ddf69b81fcd98c.png

Yep this has been a good snow event that's for sure, still snowing and by the sounds of things we could get some more tomorrow but local radio is going for morning snow showers then possible rain later in the evening and heavy rain showers on Sunday.

Drifting over fields here, really hard to say how much has fallen, 10cms probablylooking at the 'still air' areas of my garden, but it's still coming down steady. So yeah i'd say transport systems will be... not great :p

Shambles we are not under an amber warning. Oh I forgot. Its the Midlands. Really poor by the met office

Yep everywhere else got an amber the rest of the week when they expected this amount of snow, but midlands ? nah it's fine... just a yellow and we will make very little of it on the news and forecasts. Makes me laugh.
