It’s purely down to the low pressure not moving far enough north just getting blocked as far as I no

Yes, we've had this setup many times, prime spot is always W Midlands, Hereford area, B'ham area, Stafford okay, but too far north for mega dumping, but better placed than Stoke

Dec 18th 2010 another one, decent event here 6cms, but B'ham area over a foot, Stoke probably 1cm

Still nothing, will it snow tonight?? the roads are clear, what little fell either melted, or has been blown away

I now have no idea what the snow depth is! :D Thanks to wind, blowing snow, drifting etc, all I can say is that it's somewhere between 3cm and 12cm. Still coming down, still -2.3 °C, still fantastic stuff. With this week and December, this winter (I know it's technically meteorological spring now!) will be going down in history as one of the greats for my neck of the woods.

Picture of the current conditions outside, still snowing well (long exposure blurs all the snow together, so you cant really see it in the pic!). Hard to say how much it's snow as it's blowing and drifting all over the place.

Cant measure the snow depth, what little remains is solid ice against the kerb/in the hedges

I know Andy-Leics said earlier that ppn over northern France is heading towards the SW and Wales but I really think it is making a b-line for the mids. Most of the last few fronts were modelled to far west. Or maybe just wishful thinking as it does look well organised and would give a huge dump.

Love to see a snow map of the UK right now it would be white all over like 2010 apart from a tiny little clear circle.

Yep...

Also getting heavier again here.

Today is my 19th day of snowfall and my 24thday of laying snow.

Not bad, but I  want to get to 20days.  It somehow feels better.

It is very unusual now.

Thames streamers keep forming into the base of the trough, and are then being sent NW towards us.

I reckon thats a first!!

Just think along with everything else we get a Thames streamer!! If any tell anyone they will think I am mad.:cold::girl_devil::cc_confused:

MIA

Hi Mate , that's not a Thames streamer!!! Anyway the front is pulsating bring frequent heavy snow along with some drier periods to this area , and it seems to have pepped up.....:yahoo:

The worst part is that we're continually lumped into forecasts as having the same chance as those areas you mentioned, when in reality we should have a separate forecast.

It's not the despair, Laura.  I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand

I often think Staffordshire's weather is more similar to that of North West England/Lancashire or Cheshire than the Midlands.

Just looked outside and there actually is a very tiny new dusting now, with very light snow falling. I doubt we're going to get much more than that here.

We need our own small group, call it something like Mid/North Staffordshire Regional Weather Discussion.

What weather do we excel at in this neck of the woods?  Perhaps we need to switch alliances...

Big flakes mixed in with the finer powdery stuff now. Looking at the radar you wouldn't think it's that heavy in south Leicestershire, but it is. Amazing scenes outside.

Imo the models/BBC have been way off.

If you were in wales surely this particular band has deposited about 3 or 4cms tops. The above mentioned 15cms. I think my area will see it clear away by 10pm latest. A bit longer than i originally thought though so cant complain
