We should get light snow for hours and hours, and maybe the odd heavier burst

Yes, as Atlantic 252 suggests, even if we don't get a hit from heavy stuff the light stuff is going to be here all night.

I remember we had this sort of snow in 2012/3 and it ended up with us getting 1 foot :-D

Just popped my head out the front door. Roads and pavements are virtually covered. Snow is small but getting quite heavy, lots of drifting in the strong winds. Probably won't be in work tomorrow either by the looks of things.

Well we won’t get a full covering cuz of that wind just crazy out here

Well the uplift in wind speed through out this afternoon has certainly changed things a bit. Had 6cm on grass and garage roof but the high wind has stripped most of it away. Heightening the drifts and cresting off the fields onto the roads, proper blizzard now?

I'm in disbelief at that photo! So wildly different to here! A couple cm's on the bins! What depth is that table?

It's usually the other way, you get a pasting and we miss out.  How much do you have of lying snow?

Roads that were cleared all covered again, still lots of those fine flakes coming down.

It looks a lot like pics/videos I've seen of winter in dry but cold places like North Dakota or Mongolia: a few inches of snow, blowing everywhere- roads onto pavements, fields onto roads, roofs onto fields, with lots of small fluffy flakes drifting down.

Looks like holes will start forming in the precipitation again shortly.

yes, true in marginal setups, as Gentleshaw is around 220m asl, but with non marginality, tends to be pot luck, we've been luckier than Stoke and Lichfield

Level I'm going to say 2cm, drifting to maybe 6cm in places now.

Do you think that heavier snow down South  will actually start moving north or just fizzle out to moderate snow as it had done all day as it moves north

Not loads of snow but it has occurred right on the commute home and therefore the roads seemed to be gridlocked.  My journey from Dudley to Halesowen just took an hour and a half.

That's me now I've had my fill. Just had the horrible experience of walking to get the lad from my moms. Unbearable cold  it is honestly like a ski resort.
