DWW..

Yep, looking out it hardly seems to be snowing, (looks like drizzle) but it has thoroughly covered here now and continuing with the wind really blowing it everywhere. If as seems possible we start to see it intensify later, we could be in for quite an event.

The visibility is also reducing now as snow blows off the roofs, and also down the roads. I am in Central Solihull!.

All major roads around here are now covered and the traffic is crawling along..

As per the report from Snowyowl it is still extremely cold.

Current temp is -3.5C  wind-chill is -9.0C and the dewpoint is  -6.4C

The max for the day is -3.5C and the min was at 23:00 last night at -7.1C, with an average wind speeds of 10kmh.

That is  bludy cold. :cold::D

Sorry Bish!

MIA

Same here, at a craw along the Cov Rd, very dark and hammering it down :cold-emoji:

Unbelievable, considering it’s just this fine stuff that appears to be blowing around my road is now properly covered and seriously dangerous, and it’s been gritted all week!

It could be 104mm asl...at -3.5c it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.

Snow very light and fine here, blowing hard in the wind. But it's already making roads slippy, even gritted roads it is starting to accumulate especially to the side of tyre tracks. Driving into my rural village, the roads were especially icey. Plenty of ABS and tyre spin action going on :D almost went into the kerb turning onto my road!

Its the same here in oadby!!forget the heavier stuff its this light stuff that is sticking rapidly and causing chaos around here!!!

The grass is still easily visible here, although we do have 5cm drifts in a couple of places now

*fingers crossed*

Mind you even if we don't it's been a great spell all in, the cold is brilliant and the snow an added bonus.

Absolutely belting it down here, very fine flakes but really blowing about in the wind. Beautiful to watch from within the cosy indoors!

Currently -2.7°C with a dp of -4.7°C

Pretty much the same down here. Slightly heavier with slightly larger flakes now, but still not enough to get a proper accumulation going. Temp is -2.8 °C, the highest it's been all day. Pretty sure today's max will be after dark.

Stafford is renowned for producing rain whilst areas at lower altitudes nearby are seeing full-on snow. :sorry:

Brighter echoes starting to show now just to the South of us Screenshot_2018-03-01-17-18-11.thumb.png.edabe7b89a70f1ef93007f2d9da9c2b7.png

Down on the Gloucestershire Border, I am not sure if what we are seeing is a result of the easterly winds blowing snow inland off the north sea or are these small snow granules from the predicted storm Emma. Still cannot see how we will even get an inch out of this.

Is emma due to hit Midlands later or is it already here?

Outside is truly epic. The flakes are still tiny but it seems to be drifting and accumulating nicely. Really is quite evil weather outside. Looks like it's pivoting into west midlands so likely won't get any heavier or much accumulation for my neck of the woods, but I think you west midlands are in for a great night :D Have fun.
