From looking at the radar it looks like the heavier snow starts to kick in around 5pm onwards. Looking good for Birmingham westwards especially. Seems like it should get more intense through the evening and may last till around midnight. But even in the eastern midlands there could be accumulating snow too. Anyone want to make a guess of how much each part of the region will get? ❄️❄️❄️

Its all due to tilt and head N.W though hence the red warnings in south wales and west country

Id say we need it to push direct north or north east until 6pm to be certain of much.

That's the word "DUE" but how far north will it get before it does...very wintry here and I wasn't expecting this (forecast) so who knows

Agreed but not sure it's worthy of a red warning?

I think the added strong winds and associated blizzard conditions make it worthy of a red, IMO.

Snow very light and fine here, blowing hard in the wind. But it's already making roads slippy, even gritted roads it is starting to accumulate especially to the side of tyre tracks. Driving into my rural village, the roads were especially icey. Plenty of ABS and tyre spin action going on :D almost went into the kerb turning onto my road!

It's trying to pick up a little now, that wind is very strong at the moment.

DWW..

Yep, looking out it hardly seems to be snowing, (looks like drizzle) but it has thoroughly covered here now and continuing with the wind really blowing it everywhere. If as seems possible we start to see it intensify later, we could be in for quite an event.

The visibility is also reducing now as snow blows off the roofs, and also down the roads. I am in Central Solihull!.

All major roads around here are now covered and the traffic is crawling along..

As per the report from Snowyowl it is still extremely cold.

Current temp is -3.5C  wind-chill is -9.0C and the dewpoint is  -6.4C

The max for the day is -3.5C and the min was at 23:00 last night at -7.1C, with an average wind speeds of 10kmh.

That is  bludy cold. :cold::D

Sorry Bish!

Im thinking we are stuck with the tiniest of flakes for the forseeable. Nothing heavier looks set to have what it takes for this side of our region. Those west of birmingham look set for a chance of a few inches at least though.

They could be right though Storm Emma is tracking right for West Mids. Yh heavy snow from all night long if that happens we will need digging out lol.

Tiny flakes but millions of the buggers,it's like a small blizzard outside. Really is like being in another country, looks awesome with the powdery snow (not wet and marginal for once!) blowing all over the place. :D

Really starting to pep up here now and that wind, proper winters storm developing now imo. If we do get that heavy stuff this evening it will be very interesting, I’m already glued to the bedroom window lol

I'd measured the depth on a table that wasn't affected by wind at school this morning, it was around 10cm and we've probably had a few more to top it off today.  I would have measured it as I left but the kids had cleared it all off! :D

I think some of the heavier bands will make it too brum. The front is not stalling as much as forecast

Interesting in LE4, the "snow" has gotten heavier, the wind has picked up and the side roads are definitely becoming more covered. Still difficult though because it is the fine grainy stuff which just blows in the wind and doesn't stick.
