Well that will teach me, steady snow now been falling for 30 minutes in Nottingham, no sign of the Sun & cloudy in every direction. Maybe this current Cold spell isn't done with us snow wise after all

The Leicester snow shield is on full power, been turned up to 11 to help keep the snow away... Its working unfortunately.. Just tiny flurries breaking through....

It's pretty heavy here!, and the snow is coming from the SE rather than directly east. That big bulk of precip is heading right for us, so long as it keeps intensity!

And back to clear skies and sun again... short but sweet showers so far. Fun to see.

Yep. It's funny that today has the least hype and least predicted, but has already delivered the most :D

Heads up for Hednesford, Cannock, Burntwood. 1st proper shower candidate in the next 30 minutes. Looks to graze rugeley. Only moderate at best, but it should help things turn white.

not us I know but parts of Scotland now got a Red Warning out. You dont see that often

We think it's the second one ever. There was one in late 2010 but it was lifted before its time arrived, so maybe doesn't count.

My younger niece is bang in its path at work in North Berwick trying to convince her criminally-irresponsibly-stupid boss to let her away early as she has a dozen miles to drive home on the exposed coast-road. I shall be very relieved to hear she is home, but so far she isn't.

This is exceptional for Edinburgh.

Also, winds seem to be veering back E/NE'ly so that the clump of showers currently over East Anglia will miss us to the south.

It is actually unbelievable how bad our luck has been with the wind directions + showers the past couple of days.

Looking like North Nottinghamshire missing out yet again apart from last nights slight dusting unless serious adjustments to the weather system

any views on the frontal snow reaching this far north tomorrow or Friday ?

Snow relentless here at Woodall Services and M1 is not moving so I am waiting it out inside where it is warm. Drifting is incredible but I am getting concerned.

Sensible of you to get off the road - services may not be the loveliest places but they're better than freezing inside your car as it runs out of fuel!
