hAha all the beast from the east stuff is rather annoying, does anyone else think that?

Well I'm rather enjoying it so far. Sure as hell beats wet & mild murky nothingness sweeping in from the Atlantic every day.

Sure, the past couple of days have been a bit more hit & miss than many of us would've preferred, but it is what it is :)

Nice vid Matty, should do one above Barrow, was a little disappointed with the snow amounts this morning but a few beefy showers have made it look a tad more respectable now.

Given the sheet ice on the roads around, I may not be:yahoo: able to get the car up the hill in the morning

I mean all the tv and radio talk of it. Keep going on about it and it feels more like a kitten to me so far than a beast. Maybe I’m been ott

These showers only go as far as Northampton then vanish so far.

I must admit, that 18z gave me the first real 'pit of the stomach churn' - even by my low expectations for this week, not even December's events could take away the bitter taste of seeing literally every inch of the country plastered in some decent cover or snow bar a very small swathe right in our back yards.

Lets hope the fact it's 3 days away will see big changes...all this hoping to stay cold that our southern friends are banging on about, is simply ruining a fun breakdown, by giving us a painful, slow warm up to the point where snow will be too marginal, all so they can hog our beloved white stuff.

Back to the comments on the MOD thread...

I don't mind so much the southerly bias since I'm sure the population spread favours the south, it is the constant

-oh this model is useless because it isn't predicting what we want to see

-god GFS is off on one again because it shows the south going into positive uppers

-wait until this model falls back in line, it's just gone a bit silly

all these comments as if to suggest that everything should be falling in line for the south to get the goods, and if it doesn't, then it's the models playing up.

the reality is, the weather will do why the weather will do, the models just try to identify it before it happens.

Yes, the model thread is mostly useless for finding out what the weather might be.

Euro4 actually looks pretty good for here over the next day or so, I think (I'm hopeless at pinpointing my location on these charts).

plenty of chances left I feel.

earlier I though radar was showing ppn veering more easterly but seems to be still more ENE.

Showers tracking across the region. Also 850 temps at -12 look like going to drop to -15 in next 3 to 6 hours across landfall, maybe down to -17 over North sea

should help with showers, also checkout meteoradar shows plenty of ppn out in north sea heading our way ??

http://www.meteoradar.co.uk/zoom/1242/887/bliksem?zoom=6

plus more stuff coming out of Germany, wheres that going, will it pep up over North sea.
