Decent shower just has left everything nice and white, shouldn’t melt either as there is no sun tonight, unless of course the moon melts it. Odd today how it was melting with temps around 0c

So many different forecasts. Are we expecting snow Thurs Fri and Sat in Brum? Or dreaded icy rain

here's hoping Nottingham gets a couple of similar showers tonight because after dark they will stick & should put a decent covering down.

if not Friday is probably our last throw of the dice to see a decent snow event even if it does only stick around for 24 hours. Unlike other parts of the Midlands, Notts did not do very well back in December, this winter for us will be a tale of what could have been.

However with a glass half full attitude, if we can keep these showers coming in over night we should wake up to a decent covering tomorrow, & hope Friday turns out special to save Winter 17/18 for us East Midlanders

Neither did Leicester tbh, only got about 2 inches back in Dec whereas everywhere else in Midlands got much more. Leicester hasn't had more than 3 inches since 2012!!

That’s because it’s only Tuesday and it keeps chopping and changing

This is as far as the BBC forecast went. 3pm Thursday. Snow for most of the Midlands but dry in the far north.

Time to set out for my usual evening stroll, methinks. Gotta keep up with the exercise, a little bit of cold ain't no excuse!

As longs as the 850 hPa temperatures stay below 0*C, which it certainly should do on Thursday (and again, hopefully on Friday and Saturday), freezing rain shouldn’t be an issue. Does seem to be continued uncertainty about where and how much snow could fall towards the end of this week. But would be really surprised if none fell at all between Thursday and Saturday. Especially the further South you are in the region (But hopefully all of us cold and snow fans will see plenty of the white stuff)! :)

I must admit, I do love how the 12Z GEM keeps the cold continuing into next week with further disruption to Lows to our South-West resulting in a continuation of Easterlies over the region.
