Both Hirlam and Arpege suggesting some potential snowfall during Thursday in advance of the main front programmed Friday. GFS making less of this at the moment, GEM, continues in its crazy snowfest.

Both models also suggest as some organised shower activity tomorrow afternoon.

ECM too shows show for the Midlands on Thursday ahead of the main front.

Hi all here in Aldridge, we did see some showers today. I'm actually the most optimistic I've been all week regarding Thursday Night/Friday. Though I'm not in the Amber I think it is possible that the Amber could be expanded further ENE to cover the West Midlands. Now, I think it's more important to see an eastwards shift in the low, rather than a N/S shift. I know London Snow Dreamer and London Snow Watch also think that the area could be expanded. After todays Amber was cancelled and moved north I'm not too worried at all and normally I'm very pessimistic.

Chief Forecaster's assessment from the Met office

There is still uncertainty in how this system will develop, but there is a chance that the combined effects of snow, strong winds and ice will lead to severe impacts.

One run of one model - ECMWF 12Z Snow Depth, looks okay a slight eastwards shift would be favourable. This would hopefully bring the heavier stuff from Wales:)

From an IMBY point of view the snow looks to not reach this far at the end of the week before losing a lot of intensity. Much like December 2017 I fear that my location in the far north of the Midlands will be left with a couple of cm from it before milder air sweeps into Northern England.

For that reason I am hoping for 2 days and nights of heavy snow showers and streamers ?

Edit: Although the ECM charts above put a smile on my face.
