Lots of snow showers today, many more than yesterday, but all light stuff. Melts very fast in any proper sunshine -- the sun really does have some power in it now. Not too bad to be out in, definitely preferable to our normal wet snow, since you can just brush your coat down when you go back inside. Max so far today 1.0 °C; if that isn't beaten it'll be the lowest max here since December.

The really cold air starting to arrive now. Current temp' is -3.2c and was down to -3.7c  twenty minutes  ago after a heavy snow shower.

Yep...

It looks as if it is getting colder.

The BBC forecast said that it would be 2 degrees colder tomorrow with a much stronger wind, as the Easterly kicks in.

So it seems that the low overnight had some higher uppers which prevented the progress of the really cold easterlies.

That looks now as if it has been  swept out of the way as on the wider radar you can see these bands moving around the low which is now off the SE coast of Ireland..

So those guys reporting  'a pxssy cat' of a beast were actually correct.

In the last shower through here (20mins), we had every possible type of snow as the temp dropped from a high of 3C to a low of -1.4C as small heavy drifting snow (after the polystyrene had left a deposit) blew through. Finished off with some beautiful pillow sized flakes.

Is this the  nature of the beast?

Certainly is great to watch  :D.

Mia

Edit - was funny to see that the editor had changed pxssy to 'feline'!

I've been very excited by all the forecasts this last week or so but after watching the lunchtime forecast for our region it appears it's going further north than first thought.......   Hope not, thought it was a nationwide dead cert:cc_confused:

Certainly a more active - and therefore more interesting - day for Midlands shower activity compared to yesterday for most of us.

From what I can tell, everything is still approaching us from a NE direction - is that due to change?

Yep...

Will become a straight easterly by tomorrow apparently(and strengthen). That is why the streamer report from Holland is interesting.

Numerous snow showers here from mid morning onwards with some heavy ones bringing temporary white out conditions. Between the showers the snow is melting on pavements and roads but grass all covered now in about a centimeter. (or maybe two in parts)

Looks like a rash of showers will push on through tomorrow afternoon as the wind changes to more of a SE’ly.

Proper heavy snow here, visibility dropped right down, light levels dropped right down, settling on all surfaces inc wet tarmac car-park - exception being the line where all the school-run cars come in and out, rpesumably with salty grit on their tyres from the top road they turn in off! But even that's starting to cover over.

A local Wunderground reckons -0.1C, feels like -0.7C, DP -2C.

very good flurry here, heavy but left around 1cm wet snow max, bit early in the day, after dark would be more effective, dying out though after 6pm, sure strong sun creating the convection
