Hi Guys...

Been out in a very cold wet morning with early on  definite lite snow  falling.

Has now (at about  midday) turned to sleety rain.

Definite snow flakes falling even half an hour ago.

Temperature now at 2.5C, dp is -0.1C,  after falling to a cold -4.1C overnight.  (DP -6.2C).

No forecast of anything wintry  here for this morning so it was a nice surprise, though extremely cold.

Now at 15 days with falling snow and laying at 19.

I am hoping we can double it in the next month.:nonono::cold::yahoo:

It’s like icy rain here after fairly heavy snow  earlier. Cold wet and miserable ? lol

It started snowing around 10.45 a.m here and put down 1cm of fresh snow in the first half hour. Since then the snow has been persistent but has turned wet so no further accumulation. Current temp' is 0.8c.

Warmth in February? When it's still winter? When there are months and months of mildness to come?

No thanks!

Not sure I entirely agree, love snow and cold, want that my miles over warmth, but days like today, and tomorrow, and many other days since Dec, have been 3-4C, would rather it was 10 degrees warmer, looks the same outside

Yeah and it's horribly humid and wetter whilst still being chilly. Absolutely vile for people who have to walk everywhere. No thank you!

I’m looking forward to heat and thunderstorms but not just yet thanks. Bring on the bitter easterly with loads of disruptive snow to cause chaos. Can’t beat it

Looks like it's going to be a lovely sunny day today. Could be as high as 12c on Monday! Might get me shorts out

All the serious cold is in F.I at the moment. Could be an Easterly around the start of March, I hope there is as my 30th birthday is on the 5th of March! A nice, cold, snowy easterly would take the edge off not being in my 20's anymore

Genuine question Matt, what do you do outside of Dec/Jan/Feb?

Sweat my backside off.

I Iike hot and thundery weather, in the months where real warmth/heat is actually possible and where the landscape doesn't look grey and unattrative when the weather is mild. Not at the time of year where mild is still chilly (Circa 10'C is not warm in my book, but it is accompanird by high humidity at this time of year) and often occompanied by dull and dreary weather or wind and rain. I also think mild winter weather is very boring for any weather enthusiast.

Nuisance value cold though, no chance of snow

been another generally crap February, some snow, evening of 11th, but think the flakes I saw yesterday, will be the last this Feb

Think we've only had one February beast in the modern erah, in 2005, even that was sleety at times

Little in the way of wind and rain over the next week, thankfully. Then maybe winter's final flourish. Would be nice to have a spell where the snow stays for more than just a couple days. More difficult this late in the season though.

Yes, Feb 2009 was great. It is what got me interested in weather.

It was, clearly remember that spell, and same but that was the spell that really got me into the big cold spells, ever since that one I have been searching none stop for big freezes again as sure the majority on this forum is too haha, but atleast we had 2010 and 2013 as well as 2012 to some degree after 2009 too :).

Feb 2009 was a bit hit and miss; plenty of thawing during the days being topped up by snow at night is what I remember. Better than Feb 2005 by a long way, but not quite a classic. It didn't do anything special depth wise (5cm max on 3rd), but at least what snow fell generally settled.

Although February hasn't been any more likely than Jan or Dec to be completely without lying snow in recent times, it has been notably lacking in heavy/deep falls. The last time we had 10cm+ in Feb was 1994; the greatest since then was 7cm in 2007.
