Don't wish to speak to soon. But quite a bit of activity in Wales. Showers seem to be merging. If euro 4 is anywhere near then  we should start to see some activity soon

First screen shot.

Not much happening :whistling:

If that can make to us things may get a lot snowier :)

Waited all day for first shower

just blew through 80% soft hail

20% snow

Same. Let's hope that activity over Wales converges for something better here later.

Feel your pain not going to happen here !!!

Certainly looks that way, made it even worse the past few minutes by a shower that wasn't even completely snow just pellets lol, but maybe the new streamer in North Wales setting up can bring us something later, not getting hopes up too high though.

CS..

I have just had the hail/snow shower that DWW reported here in Solihull.

It was quite strong here and left a covering on the lawn, which had disappeared after 10mins.

Does this qualify as laying snow?

I am counting it as a snow falling event, but is it a 'lay' day.

Anyone know what the definition is?

I need  to be correct with my stats.

It hasn't been a problem in the last 4 years here!:yahoo:

MIA

Edit temp at 3.2C,wind chill at 2.1C and dew point of -1.6C. I suspect the actual temp dropped rapidly during the shower.

The DP will probably explain why it 'stuck'.

It would count as a snow lying day if it fell at 8.55am!

The official definition is 50% of the ground covered at 9am GMT (remember that's 10am after the clocks go forward)

But of course individuals are quite within their rights to make up their own definitions and statistics. I always like to note days with lying snow at 1200 GMT as well, to show how well the snow lasted once the sun came up. There was only one day that managed that between March 2013 and December 2017!

This winter so far here: 12 days at 0900,  9 at 1200.

Wow thats an upgrade in my eyes!!not only does most of that look like being snow but its also been pushed back quiet significantly compares to 12z yesterday which had the band over eastern england and east anglia!!

I'm thinking other way, definitely less snowy than 06Z, need to use high res charts

Tbh blues were poor apart from last 10 mins in first half. If only Gallagher had taken that chance. Oh well we didn’t deserve anything out of it imo

Just after the last very heavy snow shower. Ground must be quite warm but the snow comes down so heavy it still settles for a little while.

Yes if he would have netted, I think it would have been a different story.

anyway, back to weather talk, on my way back to the midlands and hoping to catch some snow this evening, only sleet for me in Manchester City centre thus far.
