Light Snow here in Oldbury and it is breaking up but look at the showers packing in behind it and the radar is showing a bit of life finally. It's also a few hours later than forecast could help with it sticking later.:cold:

Been snowing steadily the past couple of hours but not settling despite air temp, dew point and surfaces temp all being below freezing. How is that possible?

Same here as well! Dew point comfortably sub zero, it's even the dry powdery snow, but it's not lying at all. It's making the ground wet. Been no sunshine today that could have warmed the ground. What on earth is causing that?

Oh hold on, flakes got a bit bigger and it is starting to go a bit white. But really not even marginal temp and dew wise, not been above 1C or dew above 0 all day.

We'v had a couple of hours of very fine snow falling - settling on trees, leaves, branches, hedges  but not on any other surface.

Thursday, though - look, we're inside the "heavy snowfalls will follow" Amber area, rated "Very Likely" by about, ooh, 2 miles, I reckon :D

That's going to make for an interesting day! :D Will it? Won't it? Will it? Won't it???

btw, there appears to be no wind to speak of. The snow has been coming straight down pretty much without direction for about three hours. Well, I say "straigth down", it whirls and dances very prettily, but it isn't, eg, blowing east to wet at 45 degrees, for example.

Last time it did this it was bigger flakes and it was Friday 8th December and it gave us about 8 inches in one afternoon... ! <3

Light snow in Derby (Spondon) right now. Nothing dramatic, no need for snowplough or mountain rescue just yet:)  it is really trying...

Been patchy snow all day wet surfaces at -0.5c with the weak sun poking through, now the wind has picked up north and temps are rising at 0.5c.

Just been outside to investigate, it has been sticking readily to anything not touching the floor- hedges, fences, cars, garden furniture- and its nice fluffy dry stuff there. On the ground it's only just begun to stick since the flakes got bigger and is wet slushy stuff. About 0.5cm everywhere but very weird. Was an air frost last night, no rain today so why is the ground damp and everything else dry and frozen?

Something been going wrong quite a number of years ago when the temp reads below 0c in the daytime and still it still sometimes surfaces are wet its getting more frequent,I`ve noticed it years ago but seems to be getting rather strange now its happening with digital thermometers now aswell.

Cloudcover it seems to happen, clear that cloud its all good.

Anyway got a patchy snowcover, snowline is 285metres temp risen at 0.7c

It's been snowing very lightly here for about 90 minutes. As others have reported, though, it's not sticking at all.

Light snow here too with proper (albeit small) star-shaped snowflakes!

Snow is thawing quicker than it came too light of a dusting/covering making it thaw too fast temp upto 1.3c wind earlier was very light west and max then was 0.1c briefly.

Coming down more heavily now - like Summer of 95 says, it's sticking to anything except ground...

The roof over the way is clear still as well.

Had a small dusting of snow here in Birmingham. The radar looks quiet now for the next couple of hours but the next band of light snow is slowly heading southwards from Yorkshire. The BBC weather graphics show the precipitation right back over us at 6pm so could be a little more to come later...
