Can anyone in/near Galashiels advise how bad the roads were following the earlier "Beast"?  I am spending the day there on Sunday... weather permitting, and don't want to be stranded!

The main prob is the A7 north, it shuts at Middleton Moor very easily in snow. Gala itself is low lying and not usually bad - but last week it was a mess. They seemed to take forever to clear pavements and roads in the town. But I don't expect this Sunday will be nearly that bad. How are you getting to Gala?

The Friday afternoon  - Monday snow and cold potential seems to be increasing rather than the traditional down-grading...

Just an innocent comment on a Tuesday morning.

It's going to be a fun rush hour on Friday in some places by the looks of things..

And it gets even snowier after that for a day or two - looks like sledging at the weekend rather than gardening!

7C at moment with light winds and sunny intervals. Not a bad day really.

Joy, central Scotland looking like it is set for another pasting as things stand then. Of course, still to far out for anything to be ruled out, or in really.

Grey wet start but nice and sunny now. Still plenty of white mounds on the roads around here, and looking like a top up over the weekend.

Thanks for responses

by car (4WD) to drop one of the Diddys to a dance thing.  Due to be picked up later in the day by a small hatchback, so I may bite the bullet and stay for the duration so that I can make it back to Diddy Towers safely.  .

My gut feeling is it might be further south this time but last time it trended north as the event got nearer so who knows.

I broke my snow shovel trying to tame the last beast. My new one arrived today so I'm ready if beast 2.0 dares try it.

Just saw the headlines so have come in to express my extreme displeasure at this news of more snow.

I was settling into 'summer lurking' mode and then I see mentions of snow! Bring it on :D

I think it was Blast From The Past about a month ago said it would be mid April before it would become more springlike and I took that message and have tried to include it in the forward plans for the farm as like him I am a believer in the suns influence on the weather. and it is becoming quieter as this year rolls on.

Currently overcast and 4c

Just logged in to brag that I still have the remains of a snow pile in my garden and now I find we might have more? Don't know whether to be pleased or blasé.

Foggy earlier but now hazy sunshine. Not much wind and temp 4C.

Contractor arrived yesterday, after weeks of nagging, :), to cut the hedges, - a bit late in the year. To be fair he had tried to contact me in Dec while I was away from home.  Now a horrendous mess of chippings to clear up today. I hope it remains dry.

Nest building well underway for the Jackdaws.

Hmmm...... looking cool and dry for most of Scotland at the weekend if I'm seeing the charts correctly. Could do with the high sitting a lot further north. Although to be honest I'd be quite happy with a cold, sunny weekend if the snow chances stay to our south.

06z GFS has fairly wet friday and saturday at times with snow in the north then clearing later afternoon saturday for a dry Sunday

latest fax also shows this feature with the northern edge of it catching Scotland

no longer beast 2.0 though and the hunt for spring can begin Monday

A bit of hazy sunshine in the morning with light winds and temp up to 8C just before midday - bit of a change in the afternoon with wind picking up, temp down to 6C now and plenty of low cloud rolling in giving a dull cool feel to the day.  Not the most inspiring weather.

Yellow warning for snow on Friday in Central Highlands down to North Angus and Highland Perthshire. Just cold rain for here though I guess. Feeling mild today but getting breezy. 6.8C
