I'd actually be quite happy for it to melt and get washed away now. It's all rather sad looking when it gradually thaws away, a pale shadow of what we had on Wed/Thurs.

Heavy sleet / rain now. Temp 1.5C Dewpoint +0.5

i think that @hawesy is correct that snow will be confined to inland areas now with a little altitude.

Rain, sleet and wet snow this afternoon and evening and a light slushy covering.

I could see this weather far enough this afternoon rolling about the ground trying to change wheels due to a nice big screw in a tyre. Not the best time of year to have to try to source a replacement winter tyre.

That will be that bit of altitude I suppose. Snowing in Birky as well I am told.

Actually more flakes in the mix here now and temp dropping a notch to 1.2C

Snow is on the way out here, after sleet, rain and temperatures soaring to 2C, with a distinct sense of things returning to normal.  Have mixed feelings - sad to see things back to looking a bit dreich and mundane but no doubt there are lots of people in rural parts who would be glad to get back to normal.

Some sunshine would be nice now, but it looks in short supply this week.

Absolutely! That's been the one thing missing that would have capped the whole week off gloriously. Can't beat snow 'n' sunshine.

Rain all afternoon and still blowing through. Melting snow sucking the warmth out of everything. Pools of wet sloppy slush along every roadside.

I really hate a fast thaw! :diablo:

Still snowing at 0c .This photo  shows P3041147.thumb.JPG.43df670dcdc5c4035b026b80e849bdfd.JPGwhat has fallen this evening as front garden was more or less bare of snow when it started earlier this afternoon. Looking at my local forecast on here in spite of some melt in the afternoons for the next fortnight every night has an air frost so remaining snow and drifts will set up like concrete every night. It will make the countryside look very wintry. for a few more weeks yet.

same here just took the car out ,almost nothing this morning had to get the chains out to get home ,at least 3 inches of fresh snow

Yes ,Cairngorm if they can open the road as it was blocked all day today again are saying that upper runs will be closed off as avalanche risk is very high. They thought that Sunday would be much better with little wind instead there was strong wind and lots of drifting snow. The funicular tunnel mouth is buried again and will have to dug out by hand.Find it amusing that even on stilts it is subject to being blocked by snow but blown depths now must be approaching exceptional levels.

On MWIS forecast they are saying that  freezing level will be at the surface or 0m all this week except next to the sea and there is potential for more heavy snowfalls down  to the surface after  next week.

Armadale is only 8 miles due North East of me, was definitely a large swathe of this area with snow to that depth or more, West Calder and Mid Calder seemed to get even more. Get the feeling it'll be a good couple of years before we something like that again, especially with how widespread the deep snow and drifts were.

Rain through most of the night and still on.  What's left of the snow is grey,  brown and slushy. Dog staring out the window looking miserable.

A day for going back to bed (I wish) :sorry:
