Can't say with certainty but think we're past peak snaw here for most of Edinburgh, well Leith anyway. Fewer blobs and fewer hits, and the ones we do get are more fleeting and lighter. Subtle change in flow maybe (although hard to tell from radar replay) and a lot more high-cloud today, wonder if that's limiting convection a bit. Aware that uppers are moderating a bit too. That said, looks like lots of folk are still in the firing line for mair heavy snaw, good luck ! :good:

Hmm not sure if it's over just yet! This stuff should affect us in Edinburgh:

At last! Wee change in wind direction has this lined up for areas just South of Glasgow city centre - all the action has been North of here so far today.

Direct hit from that line!

there's a decent line now to the ESE - think that will be a barometer for us here, if that hits and is heavy maybe were still in the game but if it fragments and splits to to N and S as its been doing all morning, i'd tend to agree - from tomorrow the uppers start getting marginal here

Edit. Snowman beat me to it!

Point of interest for anyone on the East coast. Full moon tomorrow (2nd) and highest spring tides a day or so after. With these easterlies there could be a substantial storm surge on top of high tides and waves.

Please, please stay safe and don't do anything stupid. A large wave full of gravel and cobbles is like a cement mixer. Very serious risk of injury or loss of life if swept out into water around 5C.

Snow back on again, think today is worse than yesterday

In the gap today.  Maybe tomorrow will deliver more.  Snow on ground is lovely and powdery but in terms of depths, not a par with 2010, 2009 or March 2006 here IMBY.  Amazing scenes elsewhere though.

Schools closed again tomorrow, looks like it’s another day of sledging. Am bloody knackered climbing up hills!

Edinburgh airport to fully close at 6pm tonight.

EDIT:

Update: Edinburgh Airport will close fully from 6pm this evening. Airlines that are still planning to run operations in advance of that closure are: Lufthansa, Jet2, Qatar, Brussels, Etihad and Loganair. We ask that all other passengers DO NOT come to the airport. All passengers should check with their airline before travelling to the airport.

We believe that closure at 6pm gives us the best opportunity to prepare for tomorrow. We are expecting further disruption tomorrow and that the situation regarding getting staff to and from the airport will remain challenging.

For now, our priority is our passengers and our staff. We are working closely with Marketing Edinburgh and the city’s hoteliers to find accommodation for any stranded passengers. We are grateful for the response from city hotels to house those who need it.

Why?   More incoming?

Just got neighbours away at 10.30 this morning.   They had a taxi booked for 6am but company 'phoned to cancel.   Flight to Lanzarote has delayed anyway which wasn't so bad.   Unfortunately, the lady is a wheelchair user and hubby had to dig out the drive for them first to wheel her out to the road.

Latest on flight  was that there was a chance it would leave at 1.30pm.   Dunno if it made it though.

Look at this FAX chart and then look at the radar animation. You can see the convergence lines as streamers on the radar, let the animation play a few times. They seem to be sinking south and tilting more onto a straight W-E axis at the same time. Any one else see different? Radar can be so hard to see properly sometimes.

"Probably" ! The line that was aiming at East Neuk of Fife at about 12:40 on the radar, now seems to be aiming to North Berwick at 14:25. Probably thats why we've now started seeing a bigger concentration of them getting through to Edinburgh as @JoeShmoe suggested.

Definitely sinking south, look at the radar at 20 mins apart rather than 5 mins and you can see them sinking south:)

I agree, I was just thinking myself that those lines of showers matched the charts, and that the northern one at least was very slowly sinking south. Knowing my luck it'll get as far south as @More Snowbefore running out of steam.
