I went outside to experience the heavy snow and get a taste of the -16c uppers as I've never experienced such extreme conditions. Am I in Dundee or the Arctic?

The snow and the cold are wild with the wind.

Wee picture of some of the motorways as of 2am. Quite impressive the geographical distance between these 4 locations. Livingston, Scotstoun, Glasgow Airport, Moodiesburn. Not one for getting hung up on MetO warnings ?.... but tonight should have been amber for sure

Unbelievable those daytime temperatures whilst getting heavy snow at the same time.

Good Luck to everyone today. I am doing well in the west so far with a dusting at the moment and showers are now getting blowen in here more frequently without fading away.

Briefly awake. Looked out the window: snaw's gone radge over past few hours. We're getting whumphed - and that's before the amber warning kicks in.

Snawmageddon!

Slight overnight accumulation of snow, but difficult to assess at the mo with it being powdery and blown around in a very gusty wind. As usual the showers are doing a good job in dodging my location. By the looks of a car roof test, I would say about a 2cm covering. :)

Earlier on, planet Jupiter was shining brightly during one of the clearer spells

Around 30mins ago there was a massive flash to the south, but not sure if I heard thunder or just the swirly wind.

my question got a bit lost last night but are we expected to see an organised band forming at a particular time today out in the North Sea or is it simply a case of multiple convective showers

Morning all,

A quick peek out the window indicates nothing epic, but around 3 maybe 4 inch of even cover and by the looks of things more to come:yahoo:

Currently -3.7c , so another great start to the day:D

Just started dinging it down:D

Some more snow overnight here - not lots though  4/5 cms total if that (definitely will be at work today though I suspect there will be more snow at work just north of Scone). Looking at the radar and euro4 that looks about it in Perth until later this avo despite metoffce with heavy snow symbols for here at the moment. Cold in that wind outside :cold:

Morning all,

Hard to tell because of the drifting but possibly 3 or 4 cm here in Broughty Ferry, with snow covering the main road.

Great work by those on the night shift!

Glad the Perth contingent have no way got in on the action!

Going to be a long, exciting day! :D

Not sure of depths, but there’s sh*tloads of snow fallen in Glasgow overnight.

I'm guessing there's about 6cm in Stirling just now... kids'll be happy when they wake.

Scratch that - I'm vindicated after having told them about this from  last week.  And with an added bonus of putting my wife's gas at a peep.

Ha.

Edo

I was woken up at 6 by a text saying the work is shut! Looked out the window and hard to judge in the dark but there is certainly something.... Will go and take a depth reading in a hour or so, but until then just enjoying the reports on here!

maybe 2-3cm here so good but not epic - looks there are organised lines of constant showers to the north and south of Edinburgh who mist be getting pasted (those bands extending down towards Glasgow )
