What’s going on!!!! Troon’s sleety pish maker is broken ? It’s making snaw, about and inch and half. Need to get it fixed, not used to snow on the beach - new cocktail called for lol

Edinburgh looks like it's taking a bit of a pasting from this shower by the looks of the radar (although having lived there long enough I know there's no guarantee it's actually reaching the ground). It's certainly reaching the ground here though - moderate to heavy stuff and looks like it could be a relatively long shower:D

you've hit the nail on the head - radar shows snow at some altitude, and if it's only light at that altitude, it can be non-existent at ground level. Which is what happens here with snow and rain. I don't mind missing the rain but....

Red echoes right overhead, yet only very light graupel reaching the ground :fool:

I'm working out an indoor snawfall rate gauge here. If the light on the big wind turbine disappears its snowing. If the lights at the timber yard disappear,it's snowing heavy. If the lampposts disappear it's a blizzard, and if the window goes white it's DEFCON 1.2

I'm on firewood collection tomorrow so in theory I should be wanting a dry day. A dry day is what I'm going to get although i'm foooooooooooooked if i'll enjoy it.

There was traffic sign near Tore this afternoon that said bluntly

AVOID TRAVEL TOMORROW

Bizarre. Do they want the country to have a day off?

Do you want me to update you with the depth in Motherwell in the morning or would I be pushing my luck? Hope you take this in the fun manner in which it is sent.
