Heaviest shower yet. Nice big flakes settling easily.

Edit: Just not long enough!

Heaviest lot of the day coming through and it's settling proper too. The beginning of snowmageddon ;)

Looking good here as well - down to -1.5C with close to an inch just from that last powdery shower and with the next shower just about to start.

This ENErly direction is probably optimal for a good distribution of snow down the east coast and as it turns to more of a due easterly direction we may start to see an increased concentration along the Forth-Clyde region but with uppers as low as they are I think we're all in for a very snowy 48 hours or so (away from the Killie snowshield )

Yeah, no complaints, at best an even 1cm round here but given the marginal beginning to the day in Leith it's a relief. Some folk have already had a good start but for most of us it looks like its the next 48 hours that determine whether we bracket 2018 alongside other memorable events, or whether its a footnote that didn't match the hype. 'Mon the snaw !

Wind stared to pick up from the east after lunch time and we have had a few flurries/grauple this afternoon Any thawing areas in the sun started to skin up about 3.00pm and it is now 0c with larger looking showers to the east with a tendancy for them to come in from north of east  an absolutely fine direction for them to funnel into  the Firth all the way to Inverness. Seems we may get some snow overnight.

Plenty of 'blobs' ( technical term) lined up on radar, got dunted by one coming off the M-8 on way back home. Ferocious brief blizzard conditions, AWESOME!

Re: Red Warning - be interested to know what would warrant that, unless one of these troughs does the stall on the central belt thing...
