Oh I will not be happy if it pans out exactly like that!

Whitburn? What did I give @Ruzzi, 25cm? Knock a few off that....let’s say 22cm by the end of Wednesday. :D

That's their punishment for the state of that thread these days!

The way I view the MOD thread is that if you visited some of them on Xmas Eve expecting a great time, they'd immediately drag you down into a depressing discussion about how Xmas will all be over in a couple of days. They can just never enjoy whats right in front of them sometimes.

It's actually been quite a nice day here. The breeze dropped, the sky cleared and there were long sunny intervals.

Have to admit I spent a lazy hour or so late afternoon cloud watching. They appeared to be "holding station" over the hills but gradually  stretched, dissipated and reformed. Fascinating.

Back to reality and decisions, I have time limited reasons to visit Ellon tomorrow - should I travel or not? Probably best to wait and review  tomorrow morning's conditions.

I live in Balmedie so will update in morning.

Feature to the north-east looking to be moving as much south as west which might still produce a more NE England landfall for the core of it. Early days... it might still correct more west. But would think Catch and SS might end up doing best from it. That said (Leith hat on) I'm viewing it chiefly as a nuisance feature and really only expecting the flow/coldest uppers and subsequent convection to kick in once it's out the picture.

Too late!! Panic already started... I've obviously been watching the same forecasts, as pretty much all of them have the precipitation 'somehow' splitting when it reaches us!!

Hoping it's stage fright and pre-show nerves :)

Fingers crossed again, but if It goes pear-shaped, at least I called it lol

MWIS forecast for the Cairngorms / Central Highlands is for a windchill of -30C on Thursday. For the next few days in the hills do not expose any skin!

At least we'll all suffer together :( Let's hope it doesn't come to that, or we'll all need to go and steal someone else's snow! :)

Without a doubt this is going to be worst in NE England its the rest of the front that will impact Scotland, a conservative estimate would be an inch in the borders less further north but of more interest is the showers which get going after the front has passed through.

The front is incredibly slow moving which ties in with the forecasts here, didn’t expect to see this show up on the radar so early.

Unless someone tells me otherwise there is no reason for it to split....not like there are hills or anything between the north sea and us.....I will not relax till I see first decent fall though......

Some seasonal photos from this afternoon, for your entertainment before the main show starts.

I wonder if any of the other photo people in this thread think it might be worth starting a separate topic just for Scottish photos? We get lots of excellent ones posted, mostly only on this thread, and they just get lost, especially at busy times. Any takers?

That goes for me too! I'm not sure if it will be tomorrow or Wednesday, but I wish it would hurry up so I can stop worrying about not seeing anything :)

Just hope it does not go too far North of East. Otherwise you should be ok.

Also don't know if the Sidlaws are high enough to disrupt or cause a small rain shadow?

You’ll be fine. And if not, you can come and play in the snow in Broughty Ferry. :D

@Hairy Celt Great photos!
