Glistening sunshine with a hint of mist. Beauty of a Sunday morning.

Morning all. Not posted in a while but this coming week has got my attention. What a stunning outlook from the Met Office to wake up .can’t remember them being so blunt about a forecast for a long time.

I spent a bit of time last night making new snow depth sticks as couldn’t find the ones from 7 years ago. Nearly time to see if I made the scale high enough.....

"Frequent and heavy snow showers for the rest of the week. Travel disruption likely."

Not sure I've seen a forecast like that before!

With such a sunny calm morning it’s hard to believe that we’re even going to have a visit from the beast!! Is this the calm before the storm? ? My family think I’m nuts for even mentioning a chance of snow and freezing temps!

Morning everyone what a beautiful day (again)  hopefully these blue skies are a sign of things to come this summer  We're long overdue a good one.anyway it looks like an interesting week ahead I'm not expecting much snow over here in west stirlingshire but you never know .I can't complain  it's been a good winter snow wise here in the trossachs without any deep freeze.

I'd just like to add that @Mr Frost your voice of reason over in the mad thread is most welcome good luck in trying to bring stability into that area. some  more good posts and the Nobel prize maybe heading your way .:hi:

The wife keeps asking me why I am always on my phone and not listening to her when she asks me something. I told her I am on the NW forum and checking weather charts for next weeks snow potential. She looked at me and told me to grow up, how dare she say that! I want a divorce! :rolleyes::laugh:

It's definitely the calm before the crazy. It's beyond glorious this morning, stunning blue sky and birds singing like crazy:

They're singing "fly, fly west while you still can".

Grumpy Auld Sod in the corner here seems to think the forecast IF IT'S RIGHT,  is my fault. And what isn't my fault is yours.

To my untrained eyes, the 06z so far is an upgrade to the 0z.  Think the MO need to be looking at Ambers shortly.

Any bets on who will be the first to report falling snow? Am I right that eastern coastal areas may not be quite cold enough for snow initially?

(It certainly won't be me - Beijing hasn't had any precipitation at all since late October!)

Daft question time lol.... With a Forth streamer... Can Perth be affected by this? Just really hoping we get lots of snow...

Perth needs a Tay streamer which I think requires a ENE wind direction. Might kick off during this spell at some point but not looking awfully like atm.

:rolleyes:correct Tim that and the actual charts in front of us and the whole lack of marginality.... everything is in our favour for once..... theres always a chance the heaviest of showers always miss us and you get a bit of a let down but that seems unlikely or of course that convectivity is less than we anticipate which is also unlikely.....

Edo

Brilliant :) I hope that you, and everyone else gets our deepest snowiest desires satisfied this week, and if not, oh well :)

Assuming it does snow, I'm planning on taking my camera with me everywhere... my one regret about the 2010 spell is that I didn't take any pictures, so not making that mistake again!

Hoping for similar scenes to the March 2006 event here. The wind is obviously easterly instead of northerly but it is looking good.
