Well...

Just seen the latest BBC forecast and NOT impressed.... No snow til midweek!!  Knowing my luck, they will be spot on, but I really really worry when their forecast goes against the impression I get from in here and the models etc.

Not trying to be a drag, just a little nervous that somehow, someway it might go the way of the pear (at least locally) ;)

Tim

I guess I kind of understand the trepidation. But , as beautifully outlined above by @A Winter's Tale we haven’t had charts like this before. It will get stupid (magnificently stupid) this week and for most , not just some.

much rampage warranted IMO

Snowed in, 27th February 2001, at my wee but 'n ben, Kirkbuddo.

The evening after.

This event was very local - say a couple of Km square but my cottage was bang in the middle.

That was also the best snow event of my life in shotts, we had well over 40cm level and the drifts were so big that you could walk up them onto the roofs of cottages. Vans and cars were completely submerged in drifts aswell. Would absolutely love an event like that again.

The Schaf pointed to Eastern Scotland and stated potential totals of 10-20cm of snow Weds.  Impossible to forecast accurately at this range (The Beeb forecast in Nov 10 said "you may need to scrape your car this morning"  whereas there had been 30cm of snow...)

Well,  shouldn't be long now.   Did a wee bit o' panic buying today.    Looked out candles, torches, batteries and scrounged around for some Prozac just in case it all goes Pete Tong at T24..   Speaking of which, I am extra prepared with a choice of pics for 101-North's predictable response to either scenario................:D

"Drifts of 5 feet in the North East". That must mean us, right ? :) Although I don't think thats where they mean at all ;-)

Strange how a few miles can make such a difference! My pics were taken in Gask, half way between Perth and Auchterarder! I remember in 2010 phoning my work in Perth saying I might not make it in, there was a good 2-3ft of snow! They wouldn’t accept it as there was only a few inches in Perth....until I sent pics to my manager ?‍♀️?

Cheers Edo :) Thank you for the reassurance!

I am really hoping it will be decent, and as long as we get 2-4 inches or so I'd be happy... more is a bonus :)

Fabulous day with bright sunshine and little wind so we thought we would add to the store of swedes (neeps).

Flying Neeps P2241111.thumb.JPG.7becf0d9f7b5c8c175732f97c8fc288f.JPG

Notice how burnt the grass and the neep tops are almost no areas of green in the country up here now. Maybe no record breaking frosts but there have been very few frost free nights since late November and with the lack of snow cover in our area the plants have had a bad time. Currently starry and 0c

exaxtly the same thing happened with me.... it was my friend who i was manager of at the time and i jokingly demanded to see pictures....they were exactly like yours... he stayed up the back of spittalfield and had some altitude which made all the difference

Hello, Perth! Anyway, don't think you're the only snow-starved chappies, much of the west and north-west Highlands are likely to get a sprinkling at best. And no 541t about 'oh, there's only goats and deer in the hills....'

(Seems like someone's stolen all the smilies tonight :-/ )

2C out tonight after a cracking day. Firewood for next winter's 10 week extended northerly freeze stashed.
