On the train near Cumbernauld. Passing through a heavy snow shower it’s heavy enough to give a slushy covering.

Well when someone in the Model Thread feels the need to mention snow in Scotland and the post doesn't get deleted, you sort of have to take notice ??

In all seriousness, what a chart this is for the end of next week!! Obviously much scope for change as it starts at day 8 but if this verified then it would be epic again! Referred to as a Scotland snow monsoon in the Model Thread but we just call it '2 weeks ago' ??

IMG_7952.thumb.PNG.c9840cd51464f3cf4d0316fcacbd0cf6.PNG

Prior to that, we have this modelled for Tuesday at the moment:

IMG_7955.thumb.PNG.c24e5da97fb620397677b525ec537947.PNG

then a brief mild sector on Wednesday prior to the cracking Thursday/Friday charts:

IMG_7952.thumb.PNG.c9840cd51464f3cf4d0316fcacbd0cf6.PNG

IMG_7956.thumb.PNG.601aff0ba319e7d8838807038ac6cab3.PNG

the strength of the wind out west is notable too, would certainly be packing in those snow showers in a very cold and unstable airmass:

Obviously a fair bit out, so will be interesting to see if it's still showing at the start of the week (and coupled with the fact that the last potent westerly blast a couple of weeks ago was modelled fairly well in advance) I thought it would merit a wee highlight.

A lot of heavy wet snow this afternoon which has not settled but ground above about 200 metres is white. Has cleared and currently 1c so expecting some very icy conditions later.

Nice ride back up through Perthshire and Speyside this afternoon In the setting sun. The deepest was about 6" at Dalwhinnie.   Just very very wet at home. Glad I survived that though, and chose to go by train as I'm not sure my head would have coped with pre-dawn A9 blizzards.

Quite a lively drive to work this morning in the snow. Had to slow down to 40mph over the tops where it was crunchy under tyre ?

Don’t look at the 18z if you don’t like snow and cold! Some cracking charts showing again! We may well be in for something epic in the next few weeks if it comes off!
