Wee boys school got closed. Took me an hour to get from Kinross to Kelty to get him. M90 north and south was a nightmare. This is how much we had since 7.

Also had to abandon my car and get my friend to bring us home in the Land Rover ?

I just had to pick up my sick daughter and take her back to Darvel.

I would describe the driving conditions as brutal.

Sweet baby Jesus of Nazareth!!!! Now that is what I like to see! That is going to be chaos! Be keeping a close eye on it as it splits in two and snakes North and South of me.

Three hours of total whiteout carnage hopefully.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Heavy snow here and has lasted over half an hour. The A7 at Middleton Moor was dodgy earlier and will be awful now. Weather advisory on tv saying don't travel after 3pm.

Heaviest snow since Tuesday here again.  Just got back from the neighbour's when it started.  Mr fatty flakes billowing down there and the gritted A701 covered once again.  Snow Farrah only went past 90 minttes ago.

Remarkable to think that the massive area of snow just approaching the Ayrshire/Inverclyde coast isn't even here yet....  20cm?

There has been a noticeable decline in snow events here since circa 2000. Of course, being on the coast they were pretty rare anyway but Feb 1991, Feb 1994, Feb 1998, Feb 2000 and Christmas/Boxing Day 2000 all stand out in the memory as bringing large dumps of snow that lasted at least a day. We've had cold uppers, from a 'wet' direction but apart from a 'nice' dusting on Tuesday night they have failed to deliver. Anything between SW and NW is invariably too mild, anything clockwise of NNW is invariably too dry.

I do wonder if we'll see anything like Feb or Christmas 2000 here again in my lifetime. Remarkable that they were both the same year yet nothing like it since. Maybe there is just too much background warming. The uppers this week have been -6 or -7 but it's not really cooled us at ground level - temps have been 3-4 which is just a degree or two too high for anything significant. 20 years ago, maybe the same system would have been -8 or -9 and with it copious dumpings. An interesting test case perhaps of how small shifts in global temperature can lead to dramatic changes on the margins.

Yep, about to be bang on time though with the 3pm estimate for the Amber area. I'll be happy to get a covering out of it.
