nothing here overnight so remain at 4cm... all the snow we sledged on last night is now compact and frozen so the kids will be happy enough that they have a base to play on. Dont see anymore this week as nothing potent enough to get across here, Sunday perhaps the first opportunity but who knows and will take what we have got from the West

@MR FROST must have finally went to sleep :)

Yes - finally went to sleep at 01:00! What a day it was! Have finally calmed down. :D

I still see quite a bit of snow to come for parts of Scotland today, tomorrow, Friday and even Sunday for a short time before it turns to rain and washes away my snow.  (See GFS charts/Metoffice summary attached) - these have been fantastic recently for snow distribution) Tonight/early hours of tomorrow morning and Friday morning look particularly interesting! (Metoffice summary for Strathclyde looks good also)

Roads are a nightmare here - not a gritter in sight. Fox is enjoying it though.

Sorry I passed out before posting pictures last night, will post last nights along with some of this morning as we've had yet more snownover night, I reckon we'll have coming up for 10 inches here now and currently snowing heavy again. If that low slams us tonight then we genuinely will be having to dig out

Raining in Irvine and a very strong wind...horrid slushy n icy. Just the wrong side of marginal here..but east of darvel should be snow n places of elevation

Pretty dodgy drive into work.

I would imagine east of Darvel to be pretty bad.

This is what we have.

@Hawesy - your snow depth prediction for here was spot on - 7-8 cm's in the garden :good:

As good as yesterday was it was also another lesson in how sheltered the Edinburgh area really is. All of the snowfall came from the 3 prolonged heavy showers that managed to hit us. There were a couple of lighter showers but as usual for snow showers in a westerly many more showers simply passed to the north or south.

Still, it worked out better than I expected and looks beautiful out in the back garden - with the addition of several snowmen yesterday evening by 3 very happy kids :D

10cms measured in the garden this morning which is the best snow for me since 2014. Sleety mix at lower levels this morning although it was snow when I left the house as I have a little elevation.

Mixed bag on the roads but no problem for the winter tyres.

Well this is unexpected. Today was shaping up to be mostly dry in the Lomonds but we are currently being tickled by the end of a massive streamer that stretches all the way back to Ardnamurchan. I always did like that part of the world ;-)

Morning all! Not much in the way of snow again, lots of rain, sleet and hail showers though. Fun and games yesterday when an artic jack knifed just a few miles down the road from me! Blocked road for hours, kids going home from school had to return to Portree and stay there overnight. Schools closed today and kids bussed back to the south of the island this morning. Roads very dodgy. Another hail shower incoming, fire is on. Time for tea and biccies!

Can see that on the radar. Really annoying for here though as I can see thick cloud across the river but we are only getting a flake or two on the wind.?

Actually looking again at the radar the band has widened and is now hitting us. Nothing to heavy yet and looks just a bit sleety though.

Now on properly.

Perth folks....

- im at work at the high end of Scone and the snow is very heavy and my car is already totally caked and I have to get down an untreated and unploughed hill IF i went home early. Is it the same in Perth or is this just a Scone thing?

A further top-up overnight. Nearing half a foot of snaw here now. Kudos to @Hawesy - great prediction skills. Any ideas for tonight's Lotto numbers?  :hi:

Intermittent sunshine and snow this morning. Slight thaw underway, too. Overnight minimum of -2.8C. Currently 0.4C/1C. Turning into a memorable snaw snap - or maybe a snaw spell. :good:

Warnings updated! Amber for a large part of Southern Scotland. Many members could have some serious snow depths by tomorrow morning! My area is in the yellow zone but honestly expecting hee haw this far north of the low. If it happens to be 50-100 miles further north when it arrives then game on!

Aye we're practically on the border of the amber and yellow and I honestly don't want to imagine another up to 8 inches on top of what we have. Defo think the southern half of the borders will see the worst. I have family in Hawick so will find out how they get on down there.

Maybe get an inch or 2 here at most. That being said, if it does track slightly north then we could have another pounding.

A classic nowcasting wait and see the radar kind of evenings tonight I think
