The charts for that :

And now 2018 :

You would have to say the charts for midweek look considerably better than 2010.

Colder air and more unstable air with stronger winds.

Can't wait for mid week.

Yes certainly more shades of jan 1987 a short intense cold spell that was. Also note the wind direction E or ESE as opposed to ENE for 2010. That makes a huge difference to me on the south coast for a celtic streamer or people living far up the east coast where a NE flow shortens the sea track a lot reducing totals.

This is looking a notable cold snowy spell for all could go down in the history books when it's all said and done.:cold-emoji:

Yip just arrived, more or less the same as Wednesday. They would be safer just running it from Wed right through to Sat like Met Eireann have.

Cool. Maybe the east might get a little snow for once. But we will see. Is this low/ blizzard supposed to hit us or not fri. Haven’t checked models.

Yeah Lurgan seems to be the cut off point for these warnings so not sure if we will get anything like 10cm. Models have plenty snow hitting the East on Friday but plenty saying that could change in the coming days. Plenty to watch out for this week thats forsure.

Smaller area in warning zone for Thursday Friday so I’m just outside it. Hope the computerised meto symbols are correct they’re giving heavy snow all day Friday now. Is low forecast much further north now?

Well if low doesn’t hit us then I’m sure it’s just more of the same with frequent heavy snow showers. If it happens of course.

So... as you can tell, I’m a complete newbie here. How do you reckon Larne’s gonna be hit?

Right on the coast you are, I would say you'll see plenty.

Unusual chart there boofer, I’ll be very surprised to see showers move that far west. More than happy is it transpires though!
