BBC update

Outlook for Friday to Sunday

Friday will be a cloudy and windy day with widespread snow in the morning. The afternoon should see the snow slowly clearing, and it will dry with clear spells during the evening and night. A spell of rain, sleet and hill snow is likely on Saturday, and Sunday will have sunny spells and showers.

I said a few days ago it would be practically a nowcast situation. Can’t understand why such a struggle to work out what’s due to happen fri and into weekend. As for the showers for east coast - very very disappointing !! Now for southern counties across to Fermanagh.

Looks like it.

Pretty shocking for a possible event that is less than 48 hours away.

Wow! What a change. One shower later and everything is white again, looks like a streamer set up just to the north of us.

Exact same happened last night. Very frustrating.

12Z HIRLAM. Almost 24 hours of continuous moderate or heavy snow shown here, some very heavy pulses, with strong winds. The model ends at 48 hours with snow still going. An historic snow episode for many places in the east and south, is looking very likely.

Looks like I was wrong above about NE, or is that because of snow already accumulated before Emma. Anyway no doubt be different next run ha

Keeping an eye on that streamer coming out of Scotland. Should hit Derry and it's intensifying. Fingers crossed anyway.

Aye was just about to say. This looks like it'll bullseye.

It has drifted slightly South so looks good for us. Snow North Donegal looks to be getting it now. Frustrating as I am sitting watching it out towards the Donegal hills.

Winds have shifted more NE than E so North Coast and South Down favoured, central parts have to hope for Easterly again.

Huge black clouds to the South of me. Very frustrating.

It's not over yet Negative Nelly!  Anything could happen.  I can remember the forecast for 21st of March 2013 being mediocre and look what happened on the day here on the East coast......

If this is anything like Jan 1982 the we are in for an unbelievable event. I still remember that snow so well here in Dublin. It was an epic event.

We had 18 inches of snow with 6 feet drifts
