Ireland Regional Weather Discussion 16/01/2018 Onwards

Could be a spell of snow in southern/eastern counties of NI around 9pm until 1 wth storm Emma approaching according to latest beeb forecast and bbc newsline at lunchtime. Will be radar watching. Tomorrow def dry. I see nothing else happening. No mention of snow st all tomorrow eve on anything.

Lads, forget the BBC/Met office etc, the only model to pay attention to is the mighty GEM...it's showing heavy snow for over 24hrs for all of Ireland! As was mentioned a day or two ago...UPPAGEM!

??. Never going to happen that. It’s not pushing anywhere near that north. 

Met eireann update def not as severe as first forecast for all of Ireland.

The radar is so deceptive, judging by it you would think everwhere was doing well. It’s just Ronans dandruff landing here though!

That's not what their forecast for Ulster is saying

The Ulster forecast was updated at 1300hrs. National forecast just updated there now and it’s not as bad for Ulster at all.

Where are you seeing that. Last update I have was at 1220. Maybe I can’t see it yet. Well that sounds good

Less snow according to that update. Earlier said blizzard snow says more showery.

funny .. drifts now to 4 ft 6'' .. and only a humble yellow warning here in S.Tyrone .. magic :) .. my brother has just been alerted to the situation .. he lives half a mile off the road .. and didn't notice what is happening . Oops !

National Forecast

Today

Staying bitterly cold and very windy with heavy snow showers and sub zero temperatures in most places with strong easterly winds adding a significant wind chill. 
Blizzard conditions with heavier and more continuous snow will move into southern areas this evening.

Tonight

Blizzards will extend through Munster and Leinster tonight with heavy snow accumulating widely and extremely hazardous conditions. Scattered thunderstorm also. Snowfall will be more showery over Ulster and Connacht, but there will still be heavy falls here also. Icy with temperatures as low as minus 4 degrees Celsius and strong to gale force northeast winds.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow Friday will stay bitterly cold and windy with further snow accumulating, but drier periods at times in northern and northwestern counties. Snow may turn to rain for a time near southern coasts as the day goes on. Strong northeast winds with severe gusts. Highest temperatures -1 to +3 degrees. 
Risk of some coastal flooding along some southern and eastern coasts through today and tomorrow

 

Still Heavy Snowfall in Northern Areas although Showery - No downgrade in that

Yes I agree but not the blizzard that was due to push here either though.

Sorry to ask but what time was that update showing. All I can still see is the 1220 update any time I look. Must be stuck on my phone to wind me up!!
