Rochey and the east are looking for their best chance in a good few years of a dolloping of snow and plenty of ice days. 18z a mammoth of a chart though does shed the will to live after T+312. Don't think it'll be much for the far west though /

This would be a country wide event, not just the east coast, and it would last a lot longer than the PM shots we got this year... IF it happens as per the models! The flow is that strong and that cold it would carry precipitation all the way to the west coast and beyond. Sure some models show it carrying uppers of -13 to Galway/Donegal etc... That’s lampy stuff!

Also to cream it up, a lot show the high spreading over to Greenland retrogressive.... Superior to 2010 IF IT HAPPENS!

Had a quick look after the positive comments above.

They are discussing charts that would be classed as FI at any other time of winter?

Think i’ll wait until 24 hrs out before telling the family, but spring looks a while off yet

If the negative zonal flow is anything close to current forecasts then I would expect your family to know about it from the news by Wednesday.

It will start flowing from the east on Tuesday/Wednesday and get progressively colder as the days tick by. Next weekend is the real deal if it stays like that.

Last night in Iceland. Never seen so much snow in my life!! Got stuck in 2 complete whiteout blizzards this week. Spent 6 hours in the first one then 4 and a half hours today in one. Think a break from the snow is in order when I get back tomorrow. Can't wait  Did I hear someone say an Easterly is on the way. Lol

Amazing Ronan definitely on the bucket list!

It is expensive but get a few going and split the costs. The cheapest part is the flights. Lol

Looks like the early potency of the easterly could be overplayed by GFS as the northern arm of the jet has more oomph than earlier predicted!

Or, it could be the ECM operational is overplaying the Northern arm of the jet.
